Is dell wyse 3040 reliable cheap device for openwrt?

Hello everyone, today i am trying to offload some task from my main router tp-link archer c6 v3.20 to separate device, which also must be cheaper. I found dell wyse 3040 at very low cost and specs are lot better than my tplink router.

I intend to use it for openwrt with adblock package and wireguard vpn. I need about 200mbps wireguard throughput. Is dell wyse 3040 a reliable device for this? Naturally it must run 24*7 after month of months of usage..

Yes it is. Its actually quite more powerful than a generic router. I put a 2.5G ethernet in mine via mPCIE (Imported from aliexpress for like 900inr) and connected the 2.5G port to my access point to serve wireless.

BEST DECISION EVER.

I have over 40 IOT devices and even just enabling DHCP would slow down my previous router.
[purchased 50wemos D1s for 3k from aliexpress for various silly projects]

There is a modded BIOS I flashed on my 5010. Fixed that issue for me

Okay brother, im ordering it today then.. from saudewala site,

Are you also using openwrt on this? I too want to offload dhcp to this.. my router lan ports are full and wifi device are more than 8

You can buy from @Nikzcool for cheaper than seudewala.

What do you mean… do you want to use the 3040 as the router (OpenWRT)?

How does it work. Doesn’t the 3040 has only one ethernet port to be used as a router.

Why would you do this. Get a ER605 - will be far better.

Something is wrong if you are facing DHCP issues like that. We have run offices with 50+ computers on basic routers (think TPLink 740N) on DHCP and it has worked fine.

Yes any mid range router can handle 50-100 ip easily and manage it. Check your configurations once. My ac-88u giving 150 mbps easily on WireGuard even 68u was previously giving close to 100 mbps on my ACT fiber.

I have extra usb ethernet which is also gigabit.. many days ago i bought it for my asus vivobook laptop.. sold the laptop, adapter is with me ..

Yes, just the routing, dhcp, wireguard, adblock openwrt package..

Price must be ±2k rs

Something is surely wrong.
Its all good now that Ive upgraded to pfSense so who cares.

Also ive had a wr841n with ddwrt and no way it handles office environments with 50+ users. Do people in your office just connect and forget or do they use the internet?
