Is sata ssds good for a NAS?

I am been looking for a sata ssd to replace my very old hdds, for my Nextcloud build. Will the life of be any good as hdds.
Note - This is for a light weight usage for home network.

It depends . For a NAS a spinning disk is better . Can you let us know which ssd and which NAS box you are trying to use ?

Simple google search would better answer this question for you, make sure to add “reddit” at the end. I believe the the first problem will be the cost, second will be longevity on moderate read write usage and third will be data integrity, SSD usually fails without any warning even if the SMART health is good.

in such cases I like to use gpt with “opinion based on reddit users review” in the prompt, gives really fast results.

I am actually using my old laptop as a NAS box, planned to go with samsung 870 evo sata 1tb

Yep found the answer I am looking for. I think I will go for a spining hardisk itself

HDD might be cheaper too. Rather than SATA SSD’s.
