Jio actively blocking many eSIM websites

Was trying to check eSIM websites on laptop that is connected to Jio hotspot 5G (through my iPhone) and have observed that Jio is actively blocking opening of almost all eSIM related websites. I tried below websites..

eSIMdb.com - works

saily.com - blocked

International Sim Card | eSim | Prepaid Roaming Sim Card | Matrix - works

www.airalo.com - blocked

world-esim.com - blocked

esims.io - blocked

esim.holafly.com - blocked

yesim.app - blocked

Even the Nomad eSIM app I downloaded on my phone doesn’t work. It opens but then keeps saying “sorry cannot connect something”.

These mfs block sites as per their wish, I sometimes am not able to connect to mongoDB or slack. Accessing TE in one go is never possible and I’ve to reload 3-4 times to get it to work.

PS: Have used cloudfare DNS too

I am not even sure how to check this as I never did any explicit setup for DNS.

First one is opening for me directly without doing anything. Didn’t checked others. But all of them are opening on jio with cloudflare dns.

They had once blocked raw.githubusercontent.com on jiofiber :joy::joy:

Even some users in past had issues with partial blockage of reddit and twitter as well. They are blocking without any consideration/thoughts as they wish then unblock it when they realise they did something wrong.

Same thing has happened with me and still happens. Moreover this is random and i still don’t understand why this happens.

Yeah, there are occasional times like a 3-7 days every 2 months where the internet really sucks and keep having issues with sites loading and app buffering. It also gets fixed itself. I don’t know what shit they do at their backend.

It’s working

use DoH/DoT ( Encrypted DNS)
Avoid ISPs DNS

If you have Apple Device iCloud relay might help.

Then its highly likely that you are on the ISP DNS by default?

ISP means Jio’s ? If yes then how to check?

I can’t even get Uber to work on Jio when I’m out.

I need to use a vpn, it’s a hassle.

Is there a better way?

Did changing DNS not help?

For me, no.

In that case, this must be investigated.

Right now, I believe we must capture packets in a PCAP file to troubleshoot this further. This file will help us dig deeper into the issue.

right, I’ll go see my local pcap dealer and see if he can cut me a piece of the pcap action and report back with whatever happens

(been reading way too many organised crime Wikipedia pages lately)

In that case, it may be DPI. Try an option like NoDPI etc.

Isn’t it configured at your router?

JIO is going to control Indias Internet like china..they will ban whatever they think about.

They might even come up with their own shitty versions like like Joogle and perma block Gooogle. Same with Jmail, Jayoo, Jacebook, Jhatu etc. I seriously hate Jio.
