LGA 1156 is really confusing for a layman

I have learnt one thing from Intel.

To make more money , you should know the art of fooling a layman

Sheesh , how desperate can Intel be ?

Anyways there will be 4 new sockets ( i think ) for LGA 1156

P55, H55, H57, P57 and Q57

Now getting to the point i learnt that Q57 is for business class sectors not for us

So that leaves with 3 sockets .

Now new Intel Clardale 32nm dual cores are coming.

I was shocked to see that they won’t support P55 chipsets

Neither will Core i5 7xx , Core i7 8xx support H55 chipsets

Now P55 and H55 are mainstream chipsets right ?

So why are they allowed to mutually switch boards ?

I know its getting boring but do bear with me

Intel has created a very big confusion here !!

So Core i3 5xx , Core i5 6xx will be exclusively for H55 only ? Why ?

And Core i5 7xx , Core i7 8xx will be exclusively for P55 only ? Why ?

hmm that is indeed pretty sad. Are you sure current P55s dont support the 32nm CPUs? If true, there goes the upgradability of the P55.

I think guys we should help each other out .

Individually its impossible but combined , we’ll be able to sort it out

P57 socket supports both Core i3 5xx, Core i7 6xx as well as Core i5 7xx , Core i7 8xx

P57 is enthusiast platform i think.

Had been digging on all the info on LGA 1156 from 2008 till today and found these information

if a guy gets a i5-750 and p55 which together costs around 17-25k

why would he want to upgrade the proccy

so it doesnt matter whether the future processors support the 1156 or not

I also heard that IGP of Clardale 32nm can’t be utilised in P55 chipsets. I don’t know whether its true or not but why the discrimination?

well i guess the h55 will be able to use the integrated igp of the clarkdales while the p55 won’t so they are not shown as compatible with each other

I think h57/p57 will handle i5 750. If so, socket problem of p55 may go out of light.
Any idea of USD prices of h55, h57 and i5 650?

The p55 chipset does not have a display interface to output the display, hence the IGP cannot be used on the p55. However the processor will still work on the p55 chipset.

The upcoming H57 chipset will have to be used to make use of the IGP. And i see no reason why current 45 nm Lynnfield processors will not work on the H57 chipset

QuadFire sounds nice…! But not sure how well games scale on this setup. Its a general consensus that you loose 10-15% performance when the board auto - arranges to x8 x8 vs x16 x16.

MSI has come out with the Trinergy series, which offers x16 x16 on a P55 chip. But I guess one 5970 is more than enough. Both the cards will internally Xfire and run at x16. Good optimized solution, unless you are running a ‘wall of LCDs’ then 5970 x 2 is sweet.
