i am new here - in fact this is my first post.
i am looking to buy a Antec 1200 case.
sitting here in Kolkata, i got a price of 14000 + tax + shipping from the local Antec Distributor. absolutely outrageous i tell you.
from TheITdepot i got 13765(inclusive) + 1241(shipping)
bringing the total to 15006
is there any place else i can get it a little cheaper?
please help.

This Price is from ITDEPOT… i.e. 12810 + 1241 = 14051
From Kolkata Locally 14000 + 4% i guess = 14,560
IMO get it Locally so,as to avoid the Shipping as sometimes it damages the product..
You only want to stick to Antec 1200…?

antz123, i have no particular reason to stick to the antec 1200, it just seemed like a good case. and it matches my room + furniture decor (shiny black walls and dark smoke furnitures)

Well i Subscribed to the ITDEPOT by registering there.so,got a mail from them that’s the screenshot of mail that i got..
the other thing is that when i click on Antec 1200 it directs me to the Shopping cart where price is 12810/-..
BTW how come your “LOCAL DEALER” is charging you 4000/- for Shipping?

haf 932 is a superb cabby,

if you want bling factor … definately a HAF would look much more wackier, specially like red lights compared to blues of antec:) just as said though it doesnt have dust filters
when i went for full tower, i wanted aluminum and good space. Mobo tray if removable, future water cooling options and cpu cooler slot if available then good. I also wanted black or silver as my choice.
So shortlisted between
Antec 1200, CM Haf 932, Silverstone FT01, CM Cosmos S, CM ATCS 840, Corsair 800D & couple of Thermaltake options. When I was purchasing Lian Li wasnt available in India so was worried if a fan goes kaput or some other problem wont get service etc.
Antec was great option but wasnt aluminum, no mobo tray etc so didnt pick it. plus the front grill is intake so thought would become ugly once dust settles in that grill. Coz in my place both rust n dust was a problem
Thermaltake were heavily into plastics + aluminum. plastics i read over net have cracked or broken for people so i didnt want to take a chance.
HAF i didnt take becoz i didnt want bling. I wanted nice classy one. that miltary graphics etc didnt work for me.
Silverstones are good in build but too simple inside. no trays not exactly huge space. I mean antec had better space than that. plus just reading specs i felt they didnt have enough ventilation slots etc.
Corsair 800 was awesome in looks and great choice. all black looks fantastic. hot Swappable HDD slots. good ventilation. price was killer, Tirupati quoted as 16.7K plus said would need 2-3 weeks in delivery. so gave that a go.
Cosmos n ATCS i fixed my mind on. Cosmos S wasnt available n ATCS has god very good reviews. huge space, great ventilation, mobo tray, cpu cooler slot, all black brushed aluminum. so took that. would try over the weekend to put up some pics. its around 15K and CM has good service in India.
well Lian Li has some good options, but since i didnt explore them cant comment.

i had one lying about. so bought another another one.
normally, during work, i have 3 displays running - SLI disabled gives me 4 VGA ports
during gaming i have SLI enabled and keep one VGA port enabled - so gaming performance is okay too.
okay, here are the main replies:
i had a look at all the cases you good people had suggested, but for some reason, the 1200 seems to stand out before my eyes. maybe its the bigboy200, dunno why.
since i have a large number of HDDs, HDD cooling is a big factoe for me.
the 1200 does it in situ, and i dont have to mod the case for that.
a very big plus point for me.
alpha17, you were the most helpful, not that the others were not.
PrimeABGB has quoted 12500+800 for the 1200 which i think is okay.
what do you guys say?

I think u should go for the 1200 as u say its ur personal fav & the fact that cooling is quite necessary for the kind of rig u have… the price is expensive but then its worth the money.. prime is a great place to buy stuff from.. go for it & dont forget to post pics if & when u get it…

Have you taken a look at some of the Lian Li’s available here? Take a look at the ‘Dealers Paradise’ section here on TE. Phoenix has some very nice deals on them
i had a look at all the Lian Li cases (at the Lian Li website)
but i didnt find any of them as attractive as the 1200.
maybe i am developing a fetish for fans, who knows!

after a long and hard fight, i found out that was in vain.
i had mentioned my requirement, in passing, to an uncle of mine. and lo and behold!
he went forward and put up 50% of the money needed! long live my uncle!
i am getting a 1200 case, 2 pcs of NZXT Sentry 2 fan controller, and a Sunbeam CCFL fan.
they are supposed to ship today (thursday), so i suppose that the package will arrive by saturday latest
