Low-cost laptop running Linpus Linux

Norhtec is preparing to release a UMPC laptop based on a Quanta design. The so-called Gecko Laptop, is aimed at the developing-country market.

my problem with these kinda apparatus is this that they can be made with a bigger screen size and cost the same, but are not made that ways. i don’t mind linpus. it’s a decent chinese distro – standard on many Acer models. but really, developing markets do not just look at a lower price tag. these markets basically look for a higher value for money. i don’t see that in here. perhaps it could have been a good ultra portable, but the screen size sucks!

it would be better with a 9inch screen like the new EEE PC… we might have it in a few more months
