I’m looking to buy a good 32" monitor for gaming, movies, and programming.
I own an Asus Scar Strix 16 2023 laptop running on an RTX 4080. These are the exact display specs: 16-inch (40.64cms) QHD+ 16:10 (2560 x 1600, WQXGA) ROG Nebula HDR Display, 240Hz Refresh Rate, Anti-glare display, 1100nits, Contrast Ratio: 100000:1, 100% DCI-P3 Color Gamut. I’m not an expert on display tech, but as a “normal” consumer, the display on this laptop is a thing of beauty.
I’m now looking to add a monitor to it for a dual-monitor setup, one that will be able to match the laptop monitor’s quality. When I say match, what I mean is that I don’t want the difference between the two displays to be so stark that it’s distracting every time I switch my focus from one to the other.
I frequently switch between this and a company-issued Dell Latitude 5420 for work, which has an FHD LED display with a 60 Hz refresh rate. As you can imagine, the disparity between the two displays, resulting from a combination of the higher resolution, the mini-LED, the 4x refresh rate, and HDR10 on the Asus, is so vast that it takes me a good 15-30 minutes of continuous work on the Dell to get used to its display every time I switch. The mouse pointer ghosting becomes very in-your-face, and all the OS animation seems very laggy, especially on Windows. Both issues are slightly better on Linux.
I’m looking to avoid similar issues with the monitor, and so I’d like to buy a decent monitor that can keep up with the laptop’s display. My budget isn’t extraordinarily high, but it’s not on the lower end of the spectrum either. I’m happy to spend up to ₹30k. I can stretch it to ₹35k if it is an exceptional model. I am willing to compromise a bit on the size to accommodate any of the features, but nothing smaller than 29".
