Currently i am having 512Mb RAm in my Pc
i want to increase the size of my memory by 512MB Or 1GB
Which RAM should i BUY
i Have given u the configuration which is given in the book which came with the motherboard..
Please Help Me TO Select the best Ram for my current Pc
those are the speed measured in mhz at which ur rams run the higher the better. For running in dual channel u need two sticks of ram of same capacity.U need to put the rams in the same colored slot for running in dual channel
I have a 915GAVL that supports 4 GB of DDR1 dual channel, 2 slots on each channel = 4 slots total.
A while back, i was in the same situation…
My PC shipped with 512 MB of ram, a year later, i added another 512 MB(which cost me 2k at that time)..
Hardware prices plummeted.
DDR2 went mainstream, hardware prices went south even more, but now DDR1 ram faced the same situation SD ram once did, and became expensive.
I added 1024x2 GB of DDR1 RAM, which cost me roughly Rs. 2200.
The point im trying to make is, i regretted buying that extra RAM.
With hindsight, what i should’ve done was, invested that money in a motherboard like the Gigabyte G31 S2L with an LGA775 socket, and bought some cheaper/better DDR2 memory.
Ofcourse, you might think differently, in which case i’d recommend you buy used ram and save money, there’s really no point buying new. Also, you’re in a better position cause your motherboard tops out at 2GB.
