Guys help me out!!!
Me got a Ip35-e Unpacked and brand new, and after reading all the reviews around the net i really wanna do CF. so im in a dilemma whether to go for a x38 mobo or just stick to the ip35-e.
This purchase should hold me till Sandybeach (whatever) comes out from intel , thats two years from now. so help me choose
well simple advice…CF is a lot of h/w..not just the mobo…
PSU is far even more imp thn mobo…do u have a adequete PSU…
instead of goin CF straight away…why don’t u try 1 card at a time..maybe try the 4870…and later go 4870 CF.. Ip35e will have many takers as its a good mobo…but if u sell it now u might be at a loss…Use it it for some time atleast thn when u sell it u will have the satisfaction of extraction some value for ur money…
since your query is regarding the motherboard i would recommend the IX-38 from Abit, solid performer.
Secondly unless you game on a 30" your investment will count for nothing more than benchmarks.
But if you want to and if you can afford a crossfire setup i recommend you put in either the HD 4850 DDR3 version or the 4870 DDR5 version … don’t get the HD 4870 DDR3, the former two make more sense.
I would differ… no amount of GPU power is enough… so while this could be an overkill now but it also means at lower resolutions it can play more future games which will strain the gpu’s… which eventually elongate the life of the rig…
Elongate life of the rig ..? you must be kidding maan
You can never ever build a future proof rig.
Times changes, games change, h/w and s/w change .. so basically the only thing constant is change.
And btw the 4850 on crossfire on Crossfire will kick some serious ass for a very loooong time …to put it in perspective you can buy a brand new 8600GT for ~3k and play all current games with all eye candy on at 1024 X 768.
Just imagine what the the HD 4850 on crossfire can do.
Will a 4870 suffice for running crysis at 1680*1050 with very high settings if yes then i would stick to the Abit. If not then i would have to go for an upgrade im just confused
^^ ya gannu thats what im thinking too. get a big beasty 4870 and be happy with it. with the initial results (31fps at 1920*1600 at High in DX10) it would be a better bet
