Monitors with low minimum brightness

Something that annoys me about a lot of monitors is how bright their minimum brightness is. I don’t really care about max brightness - I’m not working with my monitor out in the sun. Even with brightness and contrast set to the minimum, some of them are still way too bright.

Laptop screens (I used both TN and IPS) can go super dim which is perfect for working in the dark.

Anyone know of monitors that can get really dark? Ideally 1440p, 144Hz or better. Does the panel type matter - I know OLED has pure blacks but they cost a fortune and I’m not sure how comfortable they are to use in the dark.

You should be able to turn the brightness down to even an unusable level on any monitor through the graphics software settings. If you have an NVIDIA GPU, you can access it through “Adjust Desktop Colour Settings” in the NVIDIA Control Panel. I’ve seen the option available even in Intel’s iGPU software panel.

Have you tried tools like Dimmer? Not the best workaround, but works pretty well.
