This is supposed to be the most stupidest balance cut by Airtel.
I had sent the SMS
VISA US to 57333
This SMS is to know the US visa status of any individual who has applied their Visa with US embassy in India.
Immediately after sending the SMS i get a SMS from airtel (AD-54321) as follows
Thank you for download VISA from airtel. You have been charged Rs. 10
This balance deduction is apart from my Rs 3 balance cut which is perfectly legal.
So this is a question to those airtel jerks out there as to how i have downloaded the so called VISA thing on my phone by just sending this SMS which was for my personal use ??
I think is the most stupidest way of deducting balance.
Have done that already and they told they will get back to me by 6th Apr. Their damn system still does not show the SMS i had sent. They say the last SMS i sent is on 30th March
Even reliance does something similar. Had few experiences from friends who lost their balance without even operating it and they get automatically subscribed to services they do not know of and then their balance get deducted.
You are still ok, i was charged Rs. 5 for sending an Local SMS (i have RC88 msg pack 100 sms/day), and I still don’t know why.
It just came, “LAST CALL CHARGE: Rs. 5… Now send 20000 sms a month with our RC88 pack”

Complaining about airtel is pointless. I try to do some real damage. Recently convinced my father to switch to Reliance ISP instead of Airtel primary at their office. I think that made a small dent.
Vodafone soon top Airtel, 2GS probe surely going to book huge loss nearly for all GSM service providers & they set to collect all loss from Indian customers by Hook or crook. Keep watch on your balance & deduction & you will soon come to know.
I’m with Vodafone from 2004, still they show me their TRUE COLOR I strongly thinking to move with Videocon, at least they charge less
Get the contacts from their website and write a mail to your zonal officer and nodal officer of Airtel with some strong language. Cust care is generally worthless. I had some problem with automatic CT activation and balance deduction from my account (about 60-70 Rs). I wrote some mail and got all the refunds. It was 2-3 years back - I can’t remember properly but think that they had given me some additional talktime also as compensation
Got call from their representative after i threatened to post this all over the internet like FB and various forums. They told me that few of the service activations are OUTSOURCED to some other 3rd party
Also they gave me my 10 rs back. I have now learned the way to deal with these thugs. Always give them dhamki of MNP and threaten to spread bad word about them.
out of all new crop of gsm , i tried videocon,aircel,docomo.
videocom-- offers are good but network is outsourced to bpl.at my home pathetic network.so its on hold.
aircel-- really good offers and vfm so far ( 22 rs per month for 30 ps / min, 61 rs for 61 days for 6100 sms, and best of all 96 rs for one yr for local aircel calls and sms)
docomo–is biggest chhupa rustum of all ( balance deductions,stupid customer care.)
so i have come to conclusion that aircel is almost their.
i think they will win in long term.
i wont be surprised if they come on top of all this current crop of gsm hooligans.

i am already reduced my airtel use drastically,
i used to have bills of thousands on airtel mobile every month.
Having problems with Airtel myself. It seems that their internal systems are built in way such that their exec’s can eradicate any records/history at their whim so as to allow them plausible deniability. They can make their support ticket numbers vanish into thin air without a trace of them ever existing. If you are ever calling CC for anything other than upgrading your existing account, it would be wise to record the calls for your own reference.
I have also faced problems regarding balance deduction. Few weeks back, i was on Airtel GPRS @ 97 plan, i had 12 days of validity with some 1.2GB still left. You would be shocked to hear that my balance of Rs 33 got deducted on browsing the net. . I realise this when i couldn’t made a call and found my balance at 0.5. I was like
All of a sudden on the afternoon of April 2 (yes WC final day), received a msg from Airtel (543211): “Welcome to Hello Tunes.you have been charged Rs.10 for 10 days subscription. Call 543211808 (free) to Stop HT” !!! :huh:
I was like what the heck.. ##@%*# i never asked for it and they put something in Kannada as my HT (i am from Bangalore).. n yes i don’t understand Kannada!
Now the icing on cake, since then till today i havn’t been able to talk to any CS agent on both 198 and 121. I get to listen all the options and blah blah, and after selecting any option the IVRS just says dial *121# to know about your balance and validity and call gets disconnected. Every other method i tried to disable the HT has gone in vain.
I was furious and vented it on twitter, response i got was to mail them on airtelpresence@airtel.in It seems they have this twitter a/c just to propagate this email id, they don’t do anything else other than copy pasting this for every second reply!!
Put a mail to their airtel presence and threaten them to paste it all over the internet on various forums and also threaten to put a mail to all the nodal officers and even Cced to nodal officers of other operators (yes i did that) and they will respond back.
