Motorola India, on its Twitter handle on Wednesday revealed that the next Moto G - the Moto G (Gen 4) aka Moto G4 - smartphone will be Amazon India exclusive.
The company is rumoured to introduce the Moto G4 Plus variant alongside, housing a fingerprint sensor in addition.
Separately, in a press statement, Amit Boni, Country Head, Motorola Mobility India confirmed the next Motorola smartphone’s availability via Amazon India, “We have witnessed tremendous growth in the e-commerce market and it will continue to be the dominating channel for us as we bring new products to the India market. Amazon.in is the one of the best online marketplaces in India and we are glad to announce that we have exclusively partnered with Amazon India for our next Motorola smartphone.”
Motorola had last month started sending media invites for an event on Tuesday in India. Although nothing was mentioned in the press invitation except for the date, the Lenovo-owned company is anticipated to launch the next-generation Moto G-series smartphone or the Moto G (Gen 4) in India first, something it has done before.
The Lenovo-owned firm has shared several teasers for the upcoming Moto G smartphone, contrasting its offering with others that hang while playing video games, switch off unexpectedly due to low battery, and ruin images because of slow camera autofocus.
The Motorola Moto G (Gen 4) and the Moto G4 Plus have leaked quite a few times recently via videos and images. However, none of the information has been confirmed by the company. The smartphone is expected to feature a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution display, an octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of inbuilt storage, and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The Moto G4 Plus is rumoured to sport a fingerprint sensor, and a 16-megapixel rear camera.
Previously leaked images of the white-coloured Moto G4 Plus showed a square-shaped fingerprint sensor placed as a home button, a speaker grille, a front-facing camera, and the rear camera with flash and autofocus sensors enclosed in a pill-shaped module and a dimple with the company logo below the camera.

Right and this is why i wonder how competitive the moto g series is in 2016, when there are other competitors. Still, nothing like ordering online at ease without requiring invite to spend your own money or having to use scripts.
it will come down to price. last year the moto g indian prices were identical to the US. And were available literally the next day after launch in India (!)

I just wish the phone is thinner compared to the previous gnen. If Samsung can make 7.2 mm phones with 2500 mah batteries, why not moto?

So why does the G4+ come in 2GB and 3GB when the standard G4 could simply have 3GB RAM? And the G4+>G4 only in RAM size and Camera megapixel numbers?
1k slashed already. Since Moto G 4 launching later, there may be more cuts.
The plus is downright ugly.. Ridiculous fingerprint scanner just to claim bragging rights it seems. Lenovo has done well to include a better camera with Plus’ base model, and dangled even more carrot by offering extra RAM for higher model.
5.5 inched screen size in both variants is just plain stupid imo. Moto G1 started a trend of sorts with the adorable pocket friendly+ pocketable handset. Lenovo just may have completed the mauling of the beloved handset series.
Also, 1080p/5.5 inched screen with 617.. ? Atleast they could have done a 650 there?

The independent image analysis company DxOMark has apparently rated the Moto G Plus’ photo quality ahead of iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus. That bodes well, although it did have to concede that this rating only pertained to images, implying that the video and overall scores were lower.
G4 Play ? Edit : No.
We don’t have full details on the Moto G4 Play, but it’s definitely going to be the cheapest of the three. It’s got a 5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 410 processor and a 2,700mAh battery. Those are similar specs to last year’s G, but elsewhere the specs have been degraded. The G’s waterproofing has been replaced with “splash proofing,” and the camera only has an 8-megapixel sensor.

Where the former Motorola once enjoyed a lead in terms of performance and industrial design, Chinese rivals now match the Moto G’s speed and are starting to produce aluminum unibody shells that Lenovo can’t compete with. Lenovo’s Aymar de Lencquesaing, co-president of the company’s mobile business group, told me ahead of today’s launch that he believes the Moto G can still stand out on its old strengths of providing a clean Android experience and trickling premium features down. Having witnessed this year’s Oppo F1 Plus , the Redmi Note 3 , and the Meizu M3 Note , I simply disagree. No amount of Moto Maker customizations — available on both the G and G Plus — will bridge the gap between Lenovo’s new phones and those powerful, all-aluminum $200 beasts of burden.
To be real honest, outside of the pure Android experience, there is very little that the Moto G4 brings to the table. Lenovo watered down the G4 in an attempt to bring up the G4 Plus, while the G4 Plus is what the Moto G4 should have been. In the Indian market, you can easily find several other smartphones, all of them bearing 5.5″ FHD displays, similar or even better SoC’s and fingerprint sensors, at lesser price.

First impressions
The new Professional mode is good news for those mobile photographers who want maximum control over the capture process, and the large 1080p display is nice for viewing and composing images. The fingerprint sensor performs very swiftly and increases the security of your image and video files that are stored on the device. The plastic back is in line with a mid-ranger but overall the Moto G Plus looks like a great option for consumers who want excellent camera performance without spending money on a flagship device.
