Yes. The isp is my friend.can you explain how it would change? If my modem is faulty can it be repaired or should i get a new one?
Your friend has higher grade equipment at his home not found in typical user home. Maybe ISP changed something at their end so your ONT cannot work at your home but at your friendâs place he has more privileged access so there the ISP network allows that ONT to connect to network/work. Only a backend engineer at your ISP company can confirm if the new ont will work at your home or not.
my isp is clueless. he calls someone, connects them via anydesk. what are my options?
Not many options. Either use ONT from friendâs setup or try with a different ONT hoping you will be able to return it in case it doesnât work. Why do you need your own ONT anyway?
Many recommended to go with own ont so that i can choose the best. My frnd has one lying around unused. Lets see if it works.
Is this a good replacement? TP-link Archer XR500V AC1200 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit VoIP GPON
No , pon only blinks when fibre is connected
You can either use what your friendâs ONT or get a new one. There is no point troubleshooting when your ISP is not in the mood of helping.
I would suggest rather than going with the TP link you mentioned somewhere (which is outdated ) go with this - https://fgtechstore.com/product/tp-link-xx530v/ atleast
The tp link one i mentioned is from being TE used market for 1.4k. I donât wanna spend much, since if i get job, Iâll surrender this connection. So looking for something cheap. Is getting an ont(without wifi) for 2k and using the syrotech one as router or getting the tp link bad idea?
If the blinking led is red, then itâs a fiber/connection issue.
If it is green, then the syrotech device is not registered/approved by whoever your isp is.
In that case, it works at your friendâs house because he has a different setup as @The_Eternal_Guest mentioned.
He has to get your syrotech registered with whoever the provider is.
Maybe your friend is really your enemy because this sort of thing shouldnât take more than a phone call to fix, certainly not a dozen or so messages on a forum.
in any case, if the blinking led is green then there is no issue with the syrotech, the issue is with the isp and a new ont may not fix the problem.
Try a different adapter with your syrotech.
Power mismatch leads to weird issues with routers.
