Need Advice on Travel Adapters and Power Setup for UAE

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently got a job posting in the UAE (Abu Dhabi) and will be relocating there for an indefinite period. I plan to take most of my electronics with me, including my laptop, gaming consoles, speakers, and other devices I currently use in India.

I’m considering bringing along my MX surge protector from India and using it there as well. Could anyone suggest the best way to set up my electronics in the UAE? Specifically what type of travel adapters or plug converters would be ideal, and whether using my Indian surge protector is a good idea? Looking forward to fuse integrated adapter pins if there’s any such recommended .

Any advice or recommendations world be helpful. I’m about to leave in a week, so I need to order before my day runs up.

Carry one or two of these with you along with the surge protector.
UAE is Type G.

Simplest way is to buy a plug in thr UAE and wire it to your MX.

On my cart :+1:t4: These are also easy to find at local electrical spare shops.

Was planning to get the ones with LED indicator, built-in fuse, and a solid body make.

Exactly what I read someone doing the same while travelling different power sockets posted on the mx power strip thread. Maybe it’s you :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Is there better ways to wire pins rather cutting off and joining new pins then wound the insulation around?

UAE uses British type of electric socket. Dubai - Power plug, socket & mains voltage in Dubai

You definitely need adapter (electric plug pins) for your Indian devices; but the voltage is the same as India, so you don’t require any transformer in between.

Yes , that is me … You could make a single socket extension for the extension box , without the plug . You can get the plug there and wire it .
