Need advice regarding ram

for someone who only wishes to play esports titles like apex legends and valorant and is going to use photoshop and figma(along with builder.io), will i be missing out on a lot if i chose to go with 4000mhz 16gb ram over 5600mhz 16gb ram to save some money(both on the ramsticks and on the mobo)

Just find out which capacity/config/speed/timing that is the most optimal/stable for your budget and platform then go for it.

Very high speed RAMs mostly just offer very less marginal benefits that are not worth the money spent.

For example, for an AM5 system the most optimal DDR5 set is 6000Mhz CL30 dual RAM stick kits. (I run a 32GB x 2 kit with that stats in my X670E mobo). Find similar stats based on your platform.

What’s the price difference?

Also, are you sure it’s 4000 MHz not 4800 MHz? I think the lowest frequency ddr5 rams being sold are 4800 MHz

thanks for responding!
the 4000mhz sticks are ddr4, thats why i mentioned the price difference. im saving about 5k buying those with a ddr4 mobo rather than the ddr5 combo. i just want to make sure that i dont run into any major limitations choosing ddr4 over ddr5. also, i wont be upgrading any time soon either, thought id mention that.

Check the CAS latency.
Lowest rate → more speed.

oh i see. ill look into it. thankyou!!

There would be around 5-10% difference in performance for ddr4 4000Mhz vs ddr5 5600 in most cases.

What are the rest of your specs, and which mobo are you looing to buy?

save the money imo, ddr4 is plenty fast, and you’d be maybe 5% faster in only some games and workloads

Honestly, changes in ram speed are barely noticeable outside of benchmarks.
However, I have felt improvements when increasing the quantity of ram.
