Hi! I have an old MacBook, and the camera quality is horrible. I want to buy a ring light or something similar so that during interviews, I can clip it on top of the external monitor, and the video looks fine. Any suggestions on which light to buy? Sorry this is first time I am looking into it, and ring lights on Amazon have horrible reviews. TIA!
Razer Kiyo ring light camera is decent from what I saw from reviews. Its going for 4.3k on amazon rn.
I had some cheapo ring light from Amazon and it worked rather well. One thing to note though, if you wear glasses, you can’t put it just behind the camera. It reflects in the glasses and looks horrible. I also hate looking straight into the lights, it hurts lol
To overcome that, you can either:
- Have two rings light, lighting at you from the sides, forming a triangle with you infront of the camera, and the other two on either side of the camera.
- Panel lights and make it throw towards the wall. If it’s a white wall, the reflection works good enough, but the light needs to be kinda bright for this to work.
- One ring light, but placed above, ideally between the camera and you and slightly tilted towards you
I’m not a light person, but those 3 worked for me well enough haha

Buddy you can also just buy some 8-15 watts led bulb and set it up in a holder and keep it on your desk. it sure is not the most elegant setup but it works and you will not need to speed too much on it. Alternatively you can also install a led batten just behind your MacBook on the wall and it will light up your face really well.
