Its still shit. Anyway hopefully his 5070ti will not face issue in the long run, most of the issues are in 5090/4090 but we have had cases of 4080 too. If i had bought any of these, i would also undervolt it + set lower power limits to be on safer side. I do that anyway on 3080.
3090 had 12VHPWR and had no issues. So clearly nvidia messed it up - twice - with 4000 and then 5000.
Actually, the 3090 never used the 12VHPWR, AFAIK. It looked similar, but was just a proprietary connector. It lacked the 4 sense pins (s1-s4). This is for the FE. Don’t know about other models. Same is with the 3080 FE.
Dunno, i am assuming they work similar. As this is what was mentioned in below vid. Maybe its 3090ti which i forgot.
MSI from google search -
“he NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti adopts the latest 16-pin (12VHPWR) power supply design. Current power supply units do not natively support this slot, so the graphics cards will come with a 16-pin to three 8-pin adapter cable to provide support.”
Yes, this Gigabyte RTX 5070 Ti Gaming OC uses the 12VHPWR (16-pin) connector, but the power draw is much lower compared to the 4090/4080 — this card is around 220W max TDP.
The connector spec itself (12VHPWR) is capable of handling up to 600W safely when properly seated, but the issues mostly happened on cards running 350-450W sustained power (4080/4090) combined with bad adapter cables or improper connections.
For cards like the 5070 Ti, the risk is extremely minimal. Nvidia’s 4070 Ti and 5070 Ti class GPUs were also designed with this in mind.
That said, I’ll still likely undervolt for efficiency, lower temps, and longevity. Appreciate the advice!
I am yet to see any 5070 Ti with a burnt connector so most likely it will be fine (DW about it, enjoy your new card) but I still would suggest undervolting it a bit. The reduction in power draw and heat output alone is substantial. Moreover, it might increase the longevity.
I haven’t seen the video thoroughly, just skimmed through it but it should be fine. Tech Yes City’s videos are trusted. It will give a good idea about the process.
The Jayz2cents video and the comments on it freaked me out about the drivers NVDA has put out for Blackwell. The comments were nothing but comments on hardware crashes in path of exile and other games, and reports of crashes from PoE also did the same.
