Need Help: RX 9070 XT vs RTX 5070 Ti for Long-Term

I’ve already paid for the Sapphire Pulse RX 9070 XT (₹69,590) but I still have the option to switch to GeForce RTX™ 5070 Ti Gaming OC (₹85,000). Looking for user opinions before I finalize.

My Usage:

Monitor: 3440x1440 Ultrawide (Dell S3422DWG)

Games: Assassin’s Creed, NFS, Spider-Man, GTA, Resident Evil, Red Dead 2

Focus: Story-driven AAA games, not esports

Settings: I don’t need Ultra; if it’s ultra, great — if not, I’m fine.

Options:

Sapphire Pulse RX 9070 XT (16GB) — ₹69,590 / 3Y Warranty

Great raster for the price
– RT / FSR not as strong as Nvidia

GeForce RTX™ 5070 Ti Gaming OC (16GB) — ₹85,000 / 4Y Warranty

Strong RT, DLSS 3.5, Frame Gen
– ₹15K more for similar raster

Question:

For maximum lifespan and overall better option, should I save ₹15K with AMD or spend more for Nvidia’s RT, DLSS, and longer warranty?
Your opinions would help a lot!

Thanks in advance! :folded_hands:

Are you more of absinthe guzzler or fine wine connoisseur.

My personal preference🍷.

P.S. price difference of around 7-8k would be okay but not 15k.

Haha, fair point! :wine_glass:
Yeah, I agree — 7-8K would’ve been an easy choice. But with 15K on the line, it’s making me overthink a bit.
Thanks for sharing your perspective! :folded_hands:

  1. 5070ti has better bandwidth too i think, which may help in future games.

  2. We might get refreshes soon, its possible that 5070ti refresh will have 24gb vram which is much better at this price point. I dont think this is a good time to buy 16gb gpus at this price range if not at a good discount.

  3. Biggest con of nvidia gpus is the connector and similar issues.
At 300w, i will not consider the connector to be fool proof, 5070ti super will probably push even more power.
Its less likely than 5090, but there is a chance of it burning up and in India you are not likely to get warranty support for burns.
If a company doesn’t care about releasing products with such defects, i find it hard to consider any purchase.

Good points, thanks for bringing them up.
Yeah, I also noticed the bandwidth advantage on 5070 Ti — it might help with future titles for sure.

About the refresh with higher VRAM, I agree. If Nvidia does launch a 24GB variant later, this current price for 16GB will definitely feel less justified.

And you’re right about the connector concerns. At 300W+, it’s something to think about seriously, especially with warranty challenges here in India if anything goes wrong.

Thanks for sharing these insights — it helps me look at this more practically. :folded_hands:

Side query. Do the 9070xt extreme oc models with custom connectors also have reported issues ?

Just avoid the new connector. 12VHPWR. Just a pos connector. Maybe below 200w or so it maybe fine. Even at 300w it might not be as likely, but we had cases of 4080 burning up too.

I wont buy any nvidia gpu > 200w until they fix this connector. This is a personal preference ofc, many people seem to be ok with it. Look at the demand for 5090. And not every gpu is going to burn, but the failure rate will be higher than normal ( dunno what it is)

But i have no interest in getting these anxiety filled products, will have to keep looking for signs and smells of a burn ..

Note the videos below, 3090 had the same connector but did not have these issues. Nvdia just doesnt care, they removed safety features to save pennies in these 1000$-2000$+ gpus, fk them.

Good old 8 pins work well and have lots of buffer to avoid such issues.

9070xt has 1 or 2 models with highest power that use new 12VHPWR, most use older 8 pin ( so 3x 8 pins ).

9070xt cards with the new connector also has the same design flaw. They did not fix it, the flaw is in the specs itself, one of the below channels covered that.

Update:
Finally purchased the Gigabyte RTX 5070 Ti Gaming OC 16GB GDDR7 for ₹85,590 from SCL Gaming. After detailed comparisons and discussions here, I chose this mainly for DLSS 3, Frame Generation, Ray Tracing performance, and future-proofing over the RX 9070 XT. My focus is story-driven games, better RT performance, stability, and longevity.

Are you installing it as of this moment? haha
BTW I’m sure it’s nothing major to mention but run the card with slight undervolt just to be safe against NVIDIA’s crappy power connector burn issue. Not sure how common it is on RTX 5070 TI but might as well be safe.

No this doesn’t have that power connector this is the standard one

It has 12V-2x6 connector which I think is better than the 12VHWR (someone correct me if i’m wrong here) but there is still chance of it burning.
My stance on this is pretty much what @Tracer_Bullet said a few posts above. Something like this I can’t trust blindly.

Will check that

I assume it to be 12V-2x6.

Edit: Yes, it is 12V-2x6, says so on the official Gigabyte website.
