Yes. The customer service and dispute resolution will be the same even if you subscribe to the service.

anybody with your PAN and access to check credit score can trigger a credit inquiry.

Yep. That’s how I read it too.

yeah thats what it looks like. So i am supposed to contest every time this happens without my permission ? Does not seem right, when we have pretty widespread use of sms / aadhar verification.

What I meant was that having a paid cibil plan gives you option to daily download latest full cibil report unlike free plan which gives you one time full report per year. When raising dispute sometimes bank/financial institution will ask for latest full cibil report which if you don’t have then they will stretch the case for some extra days. Having latest full report also allows one to quickly verify if there are some corrections/reversals made before raising the complaint.
@BinaryBard

I still don’t see what all of that has anything to do with logging disputes related to unauthorised enquiries but anyways ..

Yes, sir. It is how it is.

If you use some app - many sneakily access your credit report. I think Makaan or one of the real estate sites does this. Paytm has a tiny text and checkbox when you login. Some can be real deceptive.

One of the popular forum members tried some shady lending app and got money credited to their account without any application. You can search for that thread.

The aadhaar KYC API was exploited too. I don’t remember the exact case but it has been done for fraud and scam.

I was subscribed to the premium annual pack and found no value.

So i accessed my CIBIL report via my ICICI bank account.

They have a simple link to do this, without any need to open an account with CIBIL.

I have some old mobile/landlines and old addresses ( including my office address for company that i left more than a decade ago .. ) still linked but other than that there is no issue at all.

Only my Credit card account is active, rest are closed. One BNPL type that i closed and another that i dont remember but is likely similar and closed without any payment due.

For Enquiry info - ā€œNo Enquiry Information Reportedā€

Score seems fine.

So What does this mean ? The way i see it, some idiot(s) has linked my email address for his accounts. That’s why i dont get sms, only emails.

And all these stupid companies never verify email and CS guys become dumb if we ask them to remove my email ( Tried a few times with different companies, now i have given up and just mark them as spam ).

@freelancer if your bank gives access to CIBIL report, just do that. Else i guess open an account with CIBIL and get their free report. There is a decent chance that your report might be fine and the notifications that you are getting are someone else’s.

Is that same email showing in your cibil report? Banks/cibil usually don’t allow a single email to be linked to multiple cibil/credit profiles.

This only applies to higher/premium tier bank accs. I am guessing you have privilege/wealth status banking relationship with icici & even then you can get latest updated cibil report once in X no. of days (45 days as per some comments) only.

P.S. Once a year, cibil runs a 50% discount promo on their plans using which one can get their annual plan for 600. I don’t think even spending 600 for this is not worth it especially if you are holding multiple credit cards &/or you believe your info is already leaked to various loan agencies etc (evident by no. of spam loan calls/msgs).

yes same email. Other guys bank may be different, dunno

To get cibil report, we have multiple inputs from bank. Email was only one of them, so it need not be 1:1

Its just my old salary account that was created for my 1st job - almost 20 years ago ! It is regularly used., nothing special otherwise. I try to avoid anything that they recommend as its usually to get more commission.

yes next report bank page said was Dec something. Seems more than enough to me. I only have 1CC from icici+amazon, too much hassle to have more for me. This is actually the first time i am looking at this i think.

I have read people check CIBIL score via ICICI Bank and then complain of a fee being charged.

No, they do not.

Banks have a lot of duplication in their KYC data. Bank staff often do this just to get their work done, and unassuming customers have to run around trying to get it fixed. It is only recently that the concept of one customer, one customer ID has come into play. Even the RBI is aware of this issue. The only unique identifiers for now are Aadhaar and/or PAN. However, you are helpless if a staff member records your IDs with another customer’s details.

They did not mention it anywhere so it would be very sneaky.

If it happens, then it happens and i learn something.

Anyway, i did not look at CIBIL for last 20 years or however long it has been there, hopefully wont look at it again for another 20.

As per Google search AI - ā€œEligibility: ICICI Bank customers are entitled to a free CIBIL score and report once a year, as per RBI guidelinesā€

So its probably free once a year.

Best reply is to tell them the person in question no longer exists and see the magic.
