So I have a RTX 3080 in transit and am looking to buy a PSU for it since my current CV650 won’t cut it (ig due to transient spikes in 30 series). Im working with a very tight budget, so I’m looking for your recommendations on which one to buy , and is buying a used psu okay?

Just try to use the SPL Tier list and aim to get a PSU atleast B or higher according to your budget.

go with deepcool modular series. it’s on sale on amazon right now. FML but I just bought 2 PSUs 3 months back for lower wattage / quality / non modular compared to the pricing that deepcool is offering on amazon. and deepcool modular is A tier

Yes, even their RMA is good if you have the budget, go for it. Check the ATX variant; all the ones on EliteHubs seem to be 2.0 (clearance sale)rm850x-shift-80-gold, and beware of this unit buy it if your case supports it. And also, if you have the budget of 8.5K, check superflower leadex 3 super-flower-leadex-iii-750w-platinum. This will be enough even for 5080.

Bought DeepCool PN650D from Vedant Computers @5700 2 days ago. Pretty good B Tier PSU. You can go for MSI MAG A750GL around 7k, this one also very good.

Peak power draw for rtx 3080 is around 320 - 370W.
I would highly recommend to go with new PSU instead of used ones because a used PSU lose its efficiency over a period of certain years and certainly the components like capacitors bulged up . This is a common issue with used units.
I would highly recommend you to please increase your budget or wait for any sale like Diwali one is going one , you can check it out.
One more thing people usually go for a modular PSU but i would say you should go for atleast a minimum 750 watt non modular one from reputed brands like MSI or cooler master .
Cooler Master 850watt V3 Gold Modular is a good one!
