Need upgrade recommendations

My current setup
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: RX 5700XT and a spare GTX 1650 (I have not sold it to complete FF7 Rebirth on it since the other GPU does not support it)
RAM: 8GB 3200MT/s x2
Mobo: B450 S2H
CPU Cooler: Stock
Cabinet: Ant Esports ICE 130AG
PSU: 650W Cooler Master MEW v3 Bronze
Resolution: 1080p at 180HZ
OS: Arch

My CPU runs at 82C when running CPU heavy stuff like emulation.

My mail goals currently,

  1. To play Final Fantasy 16, Rebirth and GoW Ascension (rpcs3) at decent frame rates without constant crashes.
  2. Cooling down the CPU and potential upgrade path for any of the parts

My budget is 15K.

Hyper212 -budget or arctic freezer 36 for low noise and superior cooling almost would be 800 more.

do u have any issues with 5700xt for long term gaming with ff16 or is it outright incompatible?

The game does work but it keeps crashing at decent looking settings. There is a memory leak problem with the PC port, Classic square Enix. But my CPU doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for 1080p.
With GoW ascension, the fps is abysmal and apparently zen 4 and above perform great for the emulator.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth outright doesn’t support it but runs on GTX 1650 due to Mesh Shaders implementation. So I can’t force rt on Linux unlike Indiana Jones or Doom the Dark Ages. Thanks for the recommendation for the cooler.

Is it worth upgrading to R7 5700X?

You can get a Deepcool AG400 is around 1700 that’ll solve your temps problem.

TBH I don’t see any upgrade options under 13k (2k Cooler)

Upgrade the following to get another 4 years of gaming.

CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
RAM - 16GB x2 3200Mhz DDR4
GPU - RX7700XT 12GB GPU
CPU Cooler - Arctic Freezer 36

And you are good to go.
Upgrade your bios before installing the new CPU.

Or
Add a new B550M mobo also if you can.

Mobo - MSI B550M Pro Vdh Wifi

Maybe Sell the CPU+GPU, get 5700x and a newer AMD GPU since you’re on Linux

Sell CPU, Mobo, RAM and GPU and add some more monies and get my above specified parts and you are good for another 4 years.

Try to get used parts from here and reduce your overall spending. Okay.

install this 24.12.x driver for 5700xt, try a high quality psu from a friend who might have it and see whether your gpu is getting good power as sometimes its common to not power the pcie cables to the gpu in the right way(Not kidding). in 1080p basic settings usually you should be fine for gow ascension. its always better to recheck every possible way to run it before upgrading but if if anyway you are okay with 5700x purchase you should as it shows okayish improvement in the fps but its always better to save money for a big upgrade than minor upgrades or wait for bit longer and do slow upgrades with deals.
if i were you maybe i wouldnt and work on the cooler or small upgrades and enjoy other games which your gpus do well at

Ascension is heavily CPU bound

My current CPU is D tier for PS3 emulation.
So I don’t think it is a GPU issue since most of the modern games work as expected at 1080p.

Get this upgrade to have peace of mind.

If you can get all for 55-60k then it is a great deal.
Post WTB here and buy.

Definitely enough boost to upgrade the cpu but how will purchase a decent air cooler with 15k budget?

I don’t have this kind of budget right now due to my other commitments, Is it worth selling my current CPU and the 2 GPU, Upgrading to a R7 5700x or R5 5600X and an rt supported GPU with a decent CPU cooler? GPUs like rtx 3070 or a rx 7600 or rx 6700xt.

Will post a WTB for the CPU and GPU if that is a decent plan according to y’all.

I am planning to build a whole new PC in 2027 so this is just for the above games.

I am ready to go up to 20K for the upgrades but I am not sure what
R5 3600, RX 5700XT and GTX 1650 will fetch when sold. So a GPU side grade, CPU and Cooler upgrade was my initial plan.

3060ti if you maybe resell your older ones the boost isnt much but gets you the nvidia things you need and the extra 20k for the cpu and cooler.

I also plan to build a new system in Q4 2027 and have upgraded. I’d suggest getting a 5700X (new or used, depending on your budget and price) with 2×8 GB extra RAM and a B550 motherboard. You can sell your 3600, B450, and 1650 to help offset the upgrade cost.

5700xt ::face_with_raised_eyebrow: Did you forget me?

Didn’t get your point!!

he has a 5700xt gpu as well which he will sell for purchasing a new gpu

I didn’t think it was necessary, which is why I didn’t include it. The setup I’ve suggested can fully utilize the PCIe 4.0 performance that the RX 5700 XT supports and should be sufficient until he build a new PC around 2027, IMO.

I have now decided to hold onto my CPU for now and just get a used rx 7600 (saw on offer for 19.5K on a marketplace) and sell both 5700xt and 1650. That GPU supports all the games I wanted to play and easier on Linux.
