Nokia G52 5G stuck in boot loop

Hi all, I need help please. My Nokia G60 5G is stuck in a boot loop.

It was working fine till yesterday evening. I was using the phone normally, and suddenly, I noticed that the mobile network was gone. And then, in a few minutes, the phone just restarted and since then it is just stuck in a boot loop.

It shows the Android One logo and then the Nokia logo, and then reboots again. Initially, it was going through this cycle repeatedly and a bit fast…just rebooting quickly after the Nokia logo…but now, sometimes, it does go past Nokia logo and boots to the phone, and sometimes even lets me put in the phone pin, but after that it just freezes and again reboots.

Once it did go past the pin, and was in the phone for a few minutes …like, I could see my files in the file explorer…but I tried to turn on the wifi and it didnt show any wifi networks. And then it just rebooted again. I also noted that the date has changed too…some past date…couldnt see exactly.

How can I fix this? I have not taken any recent backup of the phone since a few months, as I dont have a computer (my PC died a few months ago too). I really need the data in the phone.

Please help me solve this.

Also, once it also showed a screen where it said “Security error: this device has been flashed with unauthorized & is locked”.

But, I haven’t flashed any software or any ROM on the device since I bought it 2 years ago.

The phone is also not in warranty period anymore.

I am worried about the data, as there is a lot of unbacked up data there, as I couldnt backup on PC. Is there anyway I can make the phone work and take backup of that data? And then I can give the phone for repair.

Or, can the care center fix this issue without reset and loss of data?

I tried to go in to the bootloader, by pressing volume down button and power button, but I dont see any option there of soft reset, or cache wipe or anything of that sort.

Is there no recovery mode in this phone?

Since the phone is able to boot to phone sometimes, I think this might be some hardware problem and not exactly a boot loop? I have some hope that maybe it can be fixed without data loss…but I guess most service centers just hard reset it and say that your data will be lost.

Please help me…will really appreciate this.

If it is a hardware problem, Reballing your CPU and emmc chip might bring back your device to life without data loss.

If your rom is corrupted, there is no way to recover your data, because we need to flash the rom again which will erase your data.

For service, don’t give your mobile to small roadside shops, they will ruin the chances of reviving the device. give it to a good shop specializing in hardware level repairs.

Try entering Recovery Mode Power + Volume Up and see what all options it gives.

Seems a common issue for your phone and you already posted of xda I saw it.

Service centers do not do that kind of repair. They just swap boards.

I suspect a hardware issue. Reballing cpu ic could solve the issue without data loss. Do remember to tell technician not to format. The first thing he would do is to reset or flash stock firmware.

Inexperienced ones will just fry the board. Give it to a reputed shop (they’ll have microscope and software-box tools like UFS, F64, easy jtag)

Thank you for replying.

Yes, I posted on XDA forum too, but strangely, haven’t got a reply yet.

I have already seen that YT video, and tried it, but nothing happened. I am scared to put the phone in freezer, in case it gets issues because of moisture or something..dont want to worsen anything. I am already quite tense because of this issue.

For my phone model, it seems that pressing vol up + power button just reboots the phone, which is what was shown in the video too.

Pressing Vol Down + Power button takes the phone to the bootloader menu, where it just gives option to restart bootloader, power off or start phone again.

Don’t know how to get into recovery mode on this phone.

I have seen the first link to Reddit too, and I think there is no solution to the issue in that?

I read the second link now, but it just seems too technical to me, as I have never done that kind of stuff till now. Also, I don’t have a PC, as my PC died last year already. Even if I borrow a PC from friend, I will need step by step to attempt something like that. Dont know if it will run on that PC too, because it is an old PC running Windows 7.

Thanks for replying.

Yea, service centers just want to reset the phone, and they don’t want to give priority to the data. That is why at this point, I am reluctant to take the phone to the service center.

I am in Indore. Anyone from Indore here knows of any reputed shop from where I can get the phone checked to see what’s the issue exactly, and whether it can be solved without loss of data?

I also thought this was a hardware issue, but I tried starting the phone again and observed a few things, which made me think that this might be a software issue. Will post that update as a seperate reply.

Okay so there is an update.

I have been trying to start the phone in intervals…not too frequently though.

In morning I had tried once. Till now, what I observed is, when the phone gets to home screen, the date and time are wrong, somewhere of past…I dont get enough time to check exact date though. Also, ph doesn’t behave normally…there is no notification about no sim present. Also, it cannot detect any wifi. Then, in a few mins or secs, the phone restarts.

I tried again this afternoon, and noticed something different this time. This time, the phone got to home screen, and it started behaving normally. I noticed the time was correct. It showed message about no network/sim. The wifi came on and the phone started syncing mail etc. I thought the phone had recovered. But, again, suddenly, it froze for a few secs…I noticed the time changed…and then the phone restarted again.

Why is this happening? Why the time shows incorrect? Has the OS gone corrupt? Or some other software issue?

I haven’t installed anything new, and I am very careful about these sorts of things. I do not open suspicious sites/email links, etc.

If the OS has gone corrupt, then maybe it might need a reset and then my data will be gone. But, the phone behaving normally for a few minutes gave me some hope too, that maybe this issue can be solved. But it will need some expert I guess to solve this issue.

Any ideas or guidance anyone?

There is a reddit post showing successful resolution for this issue. Try that.

Interesting. Will try this, thank you.

A pc would have been handy. As soon as phone boots on the homescreen you could have connected the usb and the connection mostly stabilizes giving you the window to backup at least the media.

Tried this. I turned off the wifi router, and that is the only one saved on my phone.

The phone booted normally. But the time was still wrong, not correct like earlier instance.

I went to settings and deleted the saved wifi and also turned off wifi.

I went into time settings to try to show correct time. But, again, the phone rebooted…sadly. So, it might not be the wifi issue.

This time though, the phone seemed to be on a bit longer than last time…as I was able to do more stuff this time. But, ultimately, it did reboot again.

I can try this on the PC of my friend. Will have to go to his house though, as I don’t have any PC at my home…nor a laptop :frowning: .

I wanted to just cry yesterday, because…twice it has happened now..PC died last year and that too led to loss of hard drive and data both. I was not able to take backup because of cataract surgery of both eyes. The day the PC died, I had started it with an intent to take backup, but it just died that time itself.

And now the phone too. I had bought an OTG pendrive to take backup, but I delayed it, as I thought I would organize the data a little and remove useless stuff…but now the phone isnt starting and high chance that I might lose data if no solution is found for the issue. I am so tensed and sad.

I just need enough time to be able to copy and backup important folders with documents..and SMS…even if I lose photos and videos thats okay.

Thank you everyone who have replied…I am really grateful.

This was the message you got.
