NVIDIA Enables Full PhysX Performance On RTX 50 GPUs For Select Titles In Latest GeForce Game Ready 591.44 Drivers
NVIDIA has released its GeForce Game Ready Driver 591.44, which adds new DLSS 4 titles; also enables PhysX support on select titles for RTX 50 GPUs.
NVIDIA PhysX Support Is Back on GeForce RTX 50 GPUs With Latest Game Ready 591.44 Drivers
A major change with the new GeForce RTX 50 GPUs when they launched was that NVIDIA dropped 32-bit support for CUDA. This meant that PhysX acceleration was no longer available on RTX 50 GPUs. This was disappointing news for gamers who wanted to play older titles (with PhysX) on their brand-new GPUs. It looks like NVIDIA has listened to these gamers, and almost a year after launch, the RTX 50 series will now receive full PhysX acceleration in select “top-played” PhysX titles. These titles include:
- Alice: Madness Returns
- Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
- Batman: Arkham City
- Batman: Arkham Origins
- Borderlands 2
- Mafia II
- Metro 2033
- Metro: Last Light
- Mirror’s Edge
GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs launched at the beginning of the year, alongside the phasing out of 32-bit support for CUDA. This meant that PhysX effects in a number of older, yet beloved games were not GPU-accelerated on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs.
With the launch of our new driver today, we are adding custom support for GeForce gamers’ top-played PhysX-accelerated games, enabling full performance on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, in line with our existing PhysX support on prior generation GPUs.
