Are the above two links true? And are there any better alternatives?

This one, definitely. Do not download or run binaries from unknown or untrusted sources, especially random internet strangers for something as potentially sensitive as a browser.
I’m sure this is great and everything, but one caveat to mention here is that it is mostly developed by one guy. I know there’s more than a few contributors listed on their github etc but if you look at the commits for it, it’s >95% just Alex. So the browser is Alex-powered, and it depends on how much you trust this Alex guy. If it even is just one guy and not a group of people. I wanted to use this originally but gave up on it for that reason.
But if you’re not doing anything sensitive and are not the paranoid type, you can probably argue that it is not a huge risk.
P.S Just found out there has already been some controversy about Alex hiding furry porn somewhere in the browser. I was not aware of that, LMAO. That’s definitely one problem with running some guy’s pet project as your web browser.

its firefox, with arkenfox tweaks & preinstalled uBlock Origin.
this browser is PITA out of the box, it breaks many sites, including major bank sites like HDFC/ICICI, transparent PNGs doesn’t render properly, and so on.
if one goes in setting–> librewolf and turn off most all of the setting there like, uncleck resist fingerprinting, etc. then it work as expected. but in this case it became just firefox.
in windows, Brave seems to be the last man standing.. whihc is turning out to bloatware with time, earlier was just crypto sh!t, now its also shoving AI/Leo as well.
But then again, if anyone need chromium based in windows, why not edge with the right tweaks, its mile ahead compared to google’s spyware chrome.
Mac we dont have to think anything, safari is the king.
i’m assuming more and more site will be broken in coming days, as i was hearing that web developer don’t even test their site functionalities in gecko based browsers.
Edge= chromium, safari=chromium, and google want all to use chrome to peddle their money making tactics -

Using LibreWolf with LibreDNS for DNS over HTTPS only for casual browsing, not for work. The number of sites I visit are very few.
For personal and bank related, using only MS Edge in InPrivate Window, clean and close after usage. No private information stored in browser (using password manager for that).
Most privacy respecting browser may feel unstable, it’s unfortunate reality. Hope LadyBird, Servo, etc. will change all this in due time.
Firefox was used by me from alpha stage, advocated and installed on all system I administered. Sadly, haven’t touched it for years after multiple kerfuffle from them. Expected a deep principle failure from them and now as a nail on the coffin, there is Mozilla Advertising…!:arghh:
wow Mozilla Adv… that was inevitable when it fueled by google’s money.
yes i also used it since the time it was called phoneix… i moved away when they changed the UI trying to mimic chrome. havent heard a single good new about ff/mozila for last 5-6yrs.. it always stay in news for all the bad reasons these days.
