Well guys,i own a Saphire HD4850 DS and a Biostar TA790GX 128M
I just wanted to know that adding the DCCFX-P2 Paddle Card into the another PCI-E slot help my GPU to run at 16x or will it still run at 8x
It’s running at x16, cuz u are not crossfiring anywayz. Don’t let this be a head ache.
Yes, you have to use Paddle card in PCi-e Slot 2 in order to get Pci-e working at full 16X..
btw, in your mobo, Pci-e slot 2 (i.e Slave) is the one which is near to NB. Put paddle card in the same Slot and graphics card in Slot 1.. 
I own that board. You have to put that paddle card in slave PCIEx16 slot i.e. nearer to the CPU and then place your graphic card in the Master PCIEx16 slot whichis nearer to the USB header,JPANEL headers etc. i.e. just r8 below the CMOS battery. Even if you CFX two cards, they both will run at x8 speed. 
I think for Biostar 790GXB mobo in CFX it is x8 and in single card setup it is x16.
Adding the paddle card will make the card run at 16x mode

The Paddle card is of no use to us,so thats why i didn’t add the Paddle card
I guess,I shouldn’t add the card,just leave it as it is :ashamed:
Didn’t i told you that you have to use the card in the other PCIE solt if you want to run the 4850 in X16 mode. If you don’t use it, the card will run in X8 mode

So i have my HD4850 in the 1st Slot and the Paddle Crad in the 2nd Slot and thats it ?
I mean any settings via BIOS and stuff ?
^^No settings needed. Just check the POST to make sure its running in X16 mode

But when i insert my Paddle Card in PCI_E Slot 2 i won’t get any display
As soon as i removed the Paddle Card and booted my machine it went all fine
Maybe it isn’t supported ?
Check whether you’ve put it correctly. I just collected my paddle card yesterday (after a bit hassle as I bought and assembled the machine on 16th june and they didn’t give me that thinking I won’t need it. But fortunately I got that as it couldn’t be used anywhere.) and the card is operating now at x16 mode where as it used to run @x8 before.

"What was a bit anarchic for us is the need for what BIOSTAR calls a ‘paddle card’ (basically a switch card or termination card) for the PCIe x16 slot. Apparently, there’s a master and slave designation for the two PCIe x16 expansion slots and if you intend to use only one graphics card, you need to plug this paddle card into the slave slot. It also means that you’re restricted to using the master slot, which is surprisingly the slot further away from the CPU socket.
CrossFireX is supported, with a dual x8 configuration for two cards. If you only have a single card, you can get the full 16 lanes if you use the paddle card along with the graphics card. If you don’t insert the paddle card, the speed will default to that of an x8 interface. Installing your single graphics card into the slave slot will produce a non-boot situation so knowing which slot is for primary usage is important. Thankfully it’s marked clearly on the PCB."

One guy had called to say-
He bought that Biostar mobo and onboard display was OK.
He installed 4850 in lower slot and display was oK.
He added paddle card and doesn’t get display with 4850 ever since, paddle or not. 
onboard display still works OK and 4850 is idle and he is not sure what to do.
Hey same happened with my friends biostar 790gx a3+.
He has same card. The onboard display works fine and so also his 4850 WITHOUT PADDLE CARD. If he inserts the paddle card for gaining 16x he too doesnt get any display and the mobo gives out 1short and 8long beeps.
Are you getting any beeps???
He has sent the board incl. 4850 & paddle card to abacus service center. They asked for gfx card to test on other similar mobo coz they dont have hi-end gfx cards to check and also the abacus persons are unaware and confused about this issue.
Lets see what result he gets tomorrow. A new replaced mobo, or new paddle card or finally any gfx issues.

you guys cud have gone for asus itself instead of trusting recent brands like biostar…
anyway wish ur issue sorted out in the near future…
