The Ripper Gang is pleased to announce the final public ISO image release of PCLinuxOS 2009.1. This release features Linux kernel 2.6.26.8, KDE 3.5.10, OpenOffice.org 3.0, Firefox 3.0.7, Thunderbird 2.0.0.14, KTorrent, Frostwire, Amarok, Flash, Java JRE, Compiz Fusion 3D and much more. We decided to use KDE 3.5.10 as our default desktop as we could not achieve a similar functionality from KDE 4. We will however offer KDE 4 as an alternative desktop environment available from the repository once we stabilize it

The PCLinuxOS 2009.1 GNOME edition features GNOME 2.24.3, the Mozilla Firefox web browser that is now at the latest 3.0.7 version, Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.17 email client, GNOME office applications (Abiword, Gnumeric, etc.), Brasero CD/DVD burning program, GNOME Power Manager, Exaile Music Player and Linux kernel 2.6.26.8.tex3.
