My friend has old Pentium 4 on Intel D845 GVSR mobo. It hsays the socket type is mPGA4788. His fan is making a lot of sound these days and systems shuts down because of extremem temperatures. So he wants to buy a new fan. I think he needs a new heat sink too. Any recommendations ? (open to online purchase)

You don’t need a expensive cooler for a 845/478 cpu, i am sure he dosn’t overclock, Get a basic cooler master cooler costs around Rs250 , eBay India: Cooler Master P4 478 Socket CPU Fan (item 130427904549 end time 01-May-2011 23:10:36 IST)

Sorry to bump up this old thread. I am having P4 + 845 Chipset. My Processor fan is making hell lot of noise.

Can someone tell me if the bellow mentioned Cooler Master fan will able to fit in is it the clip model??

The ebay cpu fan will work on a 478 cpu & is the best value for money fan for you , i am using the same fan on my p4 478 download rig

you can get this OEM heatsink/fan locally too.

easily available in Thane/Mumbai or any big town.

+1 to the CM OEM Fan, I have two systems running them at ma Da’s Office.
