People who've used a vertical mouse, was it actually easier on your wrist compared to a normal mouse?

Been looking into buying a new budget mouse. Amkette just released two Logitech clones and I’m especially intrigued by the vertical one. I have fairly large hands and the mouse will be used for productivity.

People who’ve used a vertical mouse,

  1. Did you feel a noticeable difference on your wrist?
  2. Was it easy switching to a vertical mouse?
  3. Do you still use a vertical mouse or did you switch back to a regular one?

Any other inputs on them would be appreciated.

  1. Yes, if you can get used to it.
  2. No, it takes time and patience. I am still a work in progress over the last 10 months.
  3. I still use both - a Logi MX Master user trying to convert to the MX Vertical.

If moving to a vertical mouse due to medical reason (I have Carpal Tunnel), please do not cheap out. Get the ones from Logi, Perixx or Kensington.

Using logitech lift and mx 2/3

  1. Did you feel a noticeable difference on your wrist?
    - RSI and impact on carpal tunnel is much lower, threshold for wrist fatigue has gone way up
  2. Was it easy switching to a vertical mouse?
    - Its just a tool, if used often, you get used to it
  3. Do you still use a vertical mouse or did you switch back to a regular one?
    - Mostly using vertical mouse, but sometimes i do switch back to normal mouse for to avoid RSI

Currently only looking to check out a vertical mouse for the vibe before going ahead and spending money on it. Would you say switching between the two is a better practice instead of just using either one of them? I’ve heard people say it better to switch so that you aren’t constantly putting pressure on any specific muscles.

Yes, switching between them is better. But for me personally vertical mouse feels way more comfortable than horizontal one. The issues with horizontal mouse is when extend your arm it puts very bad pressure on on shoulder compared to vertical mouse where your whole arm is in neutral position.

My right wrist was hurt in an accident in Aug this year, and I was unable to use a normal flat mouse, not even my trusty G5.

Had to buy a Logitech Lift and a MX Master 2 BT.

The Lift is very comfortable, and thus I am still using it. The accuracy of clicking where you wish to click, is a bit hit and miss, but that is similar to my M221.

Vertical is better if you are sitting.

where my trackball mouse bros at, superior* to verticals in every way… (using some protoarc one rn)

*requires functioning thumb

The Amkette XS’s design closely resembles the Logitech MX Master series. I’ve used the MX Master 2S and now the 3S, occasionally switching to a standard mouse. Initially, the transition feels awkward, but after a few minutes, you become accustomed to it.

Is the MX Master much more ergonomic compared to a regular mouse?

Type of thumb I imagine a trackball would require.

You mentioned you have carpel tunnel and hence using vertical mouse. I got carpel tunnel in 2017 and switched to Trackball mouse and zero issues until today.

So it helped me with my carpel tunnel almost instantly.

I am here man. Using Logitech M370 or something. Have backup sealed pack mouse too.

Yes, they are good, but they fail frequently. In the first year only, my first 2S mouse stopped moving. The second 2S failed after another year. The third 3S lost left‑click functionality after its first year.

Logitech has poor QC now. My keboard has failed. But warranty is easy to claim. They give replacement in 10 days. So no complaints.

yes. that is there. for me, they replaced the mouse twice- one when it was in warranty and one when it was out of warranty for free.

It is a condition which you can only manage. There is no cure unless you go for a minor surgery, at least that was what the doc said of my case.

I had tried a trackball but could not get used to it. The vertical mouse is ok but I also do some exercises. So far my condition has improved. Whether it is the mouse or exercises, the jury is still out.

If ergonomic requirements are mandated due to medical reasons, better to talk to a specialist.

  1. it was more relaxing/free in
  2. yes it was quite easy within few days you/one will get used to it, you are just shifting angle and generally size of vertical mouse big (that was big positive for me)
  3. i dont use it anymore cuz it failed on me yes it was logitech.

-i had logitech mouse and keyboard, this combo
combo mouse failed then i shifted to vertical mouse
-i used to get severe pain in my palm/hand with that/those logitech combo mouse/mice

after 6 months vertical logitech mouse failed — i shifted to normal hp mouse and its size is much bigger than the logitech combo mouse.
-it kept my hand much more wide/open → much more relaxing.
(i realised smaller mice/the ones which dont fit in my hand easily are bad for me in long term)
-now using ant esports GM320 quite similar in shape to hp mouse
-so far no severe pain in the past 4 years like i used to get with small mouse/mice
-if its wireless always get good rechargeable cells/batteries.

THIS!

I started using Logitech lift and will never go back to a normal mouse.
