Phone or Tablet under 13k as for my kids Birthday
Which is best? She is going for 10th next year. So suggest accordingly. Phone or Tablet with a Pen is an added advantage. She likes it very much.

1. Budget?
A: ₹13,000

2. Preferred display size, type and resolution?
A: 6.7" -10" , IPS LCD/AMOLED, FHD.

3. Preferred operating system? (Android (with version), iOS, etc).
A: Android 13 or Android 14

4. Preferred connectivity options? (4G, 5G, Wifi etc).
A: 4G or 5G + Wifi is compulsory needed.

5. Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them.
A: No preference. Should have good service network

6. What is your intended use for this phone (internet, camera, multimedia, mails etc.)?
A: Camera, mails, internet, multimedia.

7. Single SIM/ Dual SIM?
A: No preference

8. New or Used? Online or Offline?
A: New. Online only

9. Any other requirements?
A: Need good battery backup, microSD card slot if possible & minimum internal storage - 128GB, Minimum 4GB RAM

10. If you have already considered a phone, then please mention the model
A: None as I am confused which one to take phone or tablet

This is not the answer you are looking for, but I am gonna leave this here, might help people who are reading this and are in same situation with more budget. The apple family sharing ecosystem is really great, As a parent you create your child iCloud account in your iPhone family sharing settings, and give the kid iPhone with his own child iCloud account logged in, and you are done.

Now you have complete control over, all the activities that child does on his/her phone. Screen time restriction, app installations and deletion, block adult/offensive content, live tracking and whatnot, all in one neatly organized place.

This perfectly fills the underage child’s freedom of owning his/her own phone and at the same time gives you complete peace of mind that you decide what the kid does on the phone.

), actually exceeds your budget by 998 rupees. Haven’t used it personally but would ideally recommend devices with the latest OS only. This runs Android 13 and Lenovo is sketchy with updates, I think. Other options (without a pen) could be the [Redmi Pad SE](’

) or a very bare bones [Lenovo M9 tab](’

). If you go for mobiles, perhaps increasing your budget by 2K and looking at Vivo T4x and Realme P3 (the latest heartthrobs under 15K) could help you decide. Or else, simply call it a day with a Motorola G45 under 10K. (p.s. Motorola is also patchy with updates though like M**iji, promises have been made for updates.)
Edit: forgot the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 (4GB variant). Fits your budget perfectly. check it out.

I believe there is a google family link for Android which works in a similar manner.

There is, but I am not sure how well it works cause I haven’t used it, first thing google shows that family link is not baked into OS, you have to download the family link app separately, this alone give me “Heebie-jeebies”. Here is a comparison video, but it’s old, need 2025 version of this.
