I need the complete details to mod my PSU : how to do the MOD a step by step guide
yeah…would like to know which all components you replaced, price of the new ones, and general procedure
that is difficult. the components required vary from one PSU to the other…we cannot represent it in a general form ![]()
May i remind the members that there are some very dangerously high voltages inside the psu (320V ~ 360V). and most of the times they are “stored” for quite some period of time even after you switch off the power.
if you are prepared to “risk” that and if you or (ur next of kin
, U know you should be prepared for that too;) ) state it clearly that sunny is not responsible for any damages directly or indirectly, then i am sure sunny would be ready to help you guys.
YEAH i AM ready to take the risks ![]()
now will u pla gimme the step by step guide/guidance ![]()
well…
for the list of components chaged, refer the first post. The schkottky diodes erre good enough, didnt change them. The capacitors were of some shit company, changed all the output caps to Rubycon caps. Added a high quality input filter
in total it cost me around 170Rs..the majority being for the filter…
I have to say this…this is verrry risky and unless you know what you are doing, please do not attempt this at home ![]()
Wokay…now tell me what all caps u have on the 3.3V, 5V, 12V and +5VSB rails…and i’ll need detailed pictures of the PSU PCB, both top and bottom…
I saw a PSU mod at XBIT .
They said sumthing about sensewires??? So was ur mod diff from theirs???
gimme link first…
i just replaced substandard parts with far superior ones. thats it.
yes sunny’s was different.
sense wires will just change the output voltages (generally increase) by making the microcontroller “think” that the outputs are low. it is usually done on the 3.3V line since most of the times it is the 3.3V line which is monitered.
Tested it under load..Prime95..
5.00V and 12.56V on 5V and 12v respectively…used to get 5.10V and 12.48V respectively on Powersafe 500W
All measurements taken thru DMM
@SUNNYBOI,DEEJAY : A TUTORIAL REQUIRED FOR THIS… ![]()
what are the adverse effects of voltages on the computer.. i know it isnt good but what exactly can it do.. does the comp go KAboom?
I Second that.
And also the pros, cons & cost involved in doing this…
in sunnyboi comes to bangalore .. 'ill let him mod my PSU too…the cheap 300W to a 500W one… ![]()
lol…
i’ll be in blore tomo for the whole day..lemme see if i can meet up with u ![]()
BTW, PM me ur phone no. by tomight
awesome work.
but pics not working.
please fix them.
