Push for Arab-Islamic Nato in meeting attended by Pak, Turkey

Leaders of Arab and Islamic nations pushed for an “Arab Nato” in a meeting of over 40 Muslim countries, including Pakistan and Turkey. Egypt, which has the Arab world’s largest army, pitched it as a collective defence shield.

What is this rhetoric about Arab-Islamic NATO?
Will it take shape?
What will the west do or think about this?

Is this the plan of Egypt or Pakistan?

If i was a muslim country leader . I would definitely support this.
Most Muslim countries are aligned with each other in more ways than one and some of them are very easy targets nowdays.

Even weapons they have are all from western countries ( which is very much on side of Israel , atleat USA is) So they need this for sure for their security.

Having said it will not be easy. They will be challenged by the world and their own differences will need to be sorted.

Pakistan will be first to join this. They will be dancing naked to join this.
It will give them all the backing they could ask for .

For India this will be too big a challenge to deal with alone.
and I dont see any country backing India against Islamic -NATO at most Russia will try to mediate incase war happens.

USA we cant trust at all. China will have a field day. They will almost feel like an extended power with Islamic NATO through Pakistan.

This Islamic Nato will hurt 2 countries in the world most- Israel and India.

If all islamic countries unite like nato, it could create problems for India, as it shares a border with 3 of them.

But it’s unlikely to happen because of the following reasons:

  • About half of the world’s top 10 richest countries are islamic and so are the bottom 10. How are they going to find common ground?
  • Many of them are secular or progressive in nature (or becoming). And many of them aren’t. How are they going to find common ground?

Both these concerns are not that difficult to find solution.
Btw ( 2 muslim countries- Pakistan and Bangladesh) not sure which third one is in your mind( because if its Maldives then it is just Maritime border with good distance too)

  • About half of the world’s top 10 richest countries are islamic and so are the bottom 10. How are they going to find common ground?

Just like NATO , they can have every country give about 5% of their GDP to the security.
Poor countries give less amount. Rich Islamic countries have anyways been supporting proxy wars and other Muslim countries with not much in return. This will be better investment for > them as they get back in security.

  • Many of them are secular or progressive in nature (or becoming). And many of them aren’t. How are they going to find common ground?

hardly any major concern. Already many of them have good relations with each other . Their main common ground is religion and they already see each others as brothers.

When you first meet a Muslim outside India or go to a Muslim country.
I can bet first thing they will ask is Are you Muslim? for them religion ties them very strongly.

Edit- One fact is India too has major muslim population . Second highest in the world. That may make this Arab-Islamic NATO in some dilemma incase they decide to attack India ever.

Fact-check: Is the EU setting up a European army? Fact-check: Is the EU setting up a European army? | Euronews
Critics of the EU have long claimed that the bloc has created a joint army or soon will, citing calls from pro-European voices who want an ever-closer union. The Cube unpacks the myth.

India and neighbors better create own army, will history rhyme with the old ‘New Age’ times of Vasco da Gama, should be the question.

Oh, you aunty-national! You don’t believe in the propaganda real map of India, where it also shares a border with Afghanistan.

Nope. Pakistan hates Bangladesh and the Taliban. It would never get together with them.

Same goes with many of african countries.

Not my experience. I have been to 3.

Since this will threaten Israel military superiority, Arab Nato will be on a direct confrontation with NATO and USA. To be fair UK and possibly even France in about 30 to 50 years time will be part of Arab Nato due to mass immigration.

This poses a serious threat to India because Pakistan will be part of it. Like if they do a terrorists attack and we retaliate and then use article 5 equivalent.

Oh…you mean that Khayali Pulao Map.

Nope. Pakistan hates Bangladesh and the Taliban. It would never get together with them.

Not every Muslim Country will need to be part of Islamic Nato. It can be between major powers or one with major resources or one with major manpower( sending men to die like Pakistan)

Beside they may hate each other still work for security too.

Look at Turkey( it is most hated NATO country) and pressure is already mounting on USA by Europe to kick Turkey out. Still they are together working along.
Even Greece and Turkey dont get along but they are still there as part of NATO.

Not my experience. I have been to 3.

I have gone to twice and both times I have been asked. Ofcourse not that they behaved badly when they came to know I was non-muslim.
Infact they were still very nice to me.

I don’t see Arab NATO being a fruitful venture. Unless Oil money+South asian workforce is the combo they are aiming for.
I can’t expect Saudi/Qatar or any rich arab country sending their local troops to fight Pak/Bang wars.

Even if they share the muslim bond but the racial superiority is a big thing. For them its - Arab>White>Rich>Asian>South east/Blacks

Ofcourse it won’t be that easy .
But it makes sense tbh.

Like I said they should. They share lotnof same common ground and fears of being attacked by West and Israel.

And remember George Bush saying once when he attacked Afghanistan and called it " Crusader war"

You said it. I didn’t.

The real question you need to ask is why hasn’t it happened until now? It’s not a new idea.

It’ll be forgotten like Modi’s idea of connecting all countries with a single electric grid.

Thing is, rich islamic countries get along with their rich islamic neighbors just fine. (e.g., Singapore-Malaysia)

On the other hand, if you notice the pattern, almost without an exception, poor islamic countries are ones that don’t have good relationships with their neighbors.

Why would rich countries need to fund poor countries for their war and security? Doesn’t make sense.

It’s not like India, where rich states have to pay for the development in Bihar.

I can agree with that.

The country where the largest share of HNI Indians flee is a muslim country and that says a lot.
