THE CARDS are out in the hands of the partners and have been in production for some time so you should be able to see them in the shops as soon as they launch.
**
The launch date is either January 24th or very early in February.** The R580 is the Radeon X1900XTX and it should be able to score some nice results with AMD’s FX60.
**A single card can score 11000+ in 3Dmark05 which is faster than both single Geforce 7800 GTX 512 card and Radeon X1800 XT including the overclocked ones. **
The Hexens were right that with the fast CPU you can get around 13500 in 3Dmark05, but more significantly it will end up faster at least in some games.
At this time we only have Geforce 7800 GTX 512 to compare it with. This very unavailable card can not keep up with new ATI R580 at least not in some games and benchmarks.
I know that in games such as FEAR Nvidia is loosing significantly to R580 as much as fifty per cent faster in some scenarios. But don’t worry it won’t beat Nvidia in every case I still believe that Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX 512 have the strength to win in a few games.
Bear in mind that the R580, Radeon X1900 XTX is suppose to fight G71, possibly named Geforce 7900 and this card has more pipelines and runs at much higher speed than G70 based Geforce 7800 GTX 512. G71 has much batter odds versus R580 but unfortunately it comes at least few weeks if not the whole month later.
We think we will have some more performance details soon.
Te red giant comes out with a challenger after quite some time and it still can’t beat te nvidia???
I was an ati fanboy…but looks like G71 will win hands down:( again…
Well time will tell… if G71’s 32pipes and 16ROPs @700/1600 will be enough for X1900XT or not. Insane prices from both Manufacturers are inevitable for High-End parts. I hope for much better mainstream products this year tho with Vista rolling out later this year.
OK…but 1 point here. Just a little point which fanatics will chew right up, but on a 30 odd K pm sal one can’t exactly buy a noo card every month…SIGH…
Comparing the visual quality of both cards, talking about a 7800GTX 512 and an X1800XL/X1600 I can say that the ATI card is better. Funny though the Nvidia number crunches better but the quality of the pixel shaders on ATI’s card is superior… See 24pp and 32pp and 16pp mean nothing. if you’re getting acceptable fps @ all the high settings then fps means zilch too… SO IT COMES DOWN TO VISUAL QUAL…
Going a gen previous the X800XT shows much better visuals than the 6800GT, except maybe on DOOM 3. even QUAKE 4 which is a doom 3 engine based game looks better, all because of pix shader qual.
ofcourse I’d welcome the X1900 and 7900 series cause boy they’re gonna trigger a price war in the next 4-6 months…
