I once got a refurbished Thinkpad T480 from amazon for ₹27000. I was very excited. But upon arrival, it had a small crack on screen corner with dead pixels, a few keys were broken/not working. Thankfully it got returned after many phone calls and sending images to amazon. So i would be cautious there.
Why buy an already 6 year old laptop & hope for upgradability, future-proofing? Nowdays even office & chrome will take up 16 gigs of ram. (i advice get at least 32 gigs)
Aren’t the new Thinkpads a bit upgradable again (battery & SSD are upgradable in T14 & T14s)
If so, i would consider waiting a generation to get a bit lower price.
I bought a ThinkPad t495 from a seller in Chennai few months ago for 27k. So far happy with the purchase. The only issue was that some sort of rubber bezel around the screen was fully damaged. I do hate that it has only one ram slot.
I would strongly suggest sticking to offline buying only.
best route.. and how i got my lenovo back in time was .. i searched local YouTube vloggers. there are many.
they will list the shop mobile number in description, call them up, visit shop, inspect the laptop physically & buy.
( i used to know one but i deleted the contact once i left mumbai, will search and share if i find the bill)
I got a best deal on almost untouched, top end t480, was a corporate discard non-indian model.. and later i upgrade few stuffs and i guess when it comes for windows OS im all good for another 5-7yrs with this.
Same thing happened with my friend, got a faulty thinkpad from amazon. So he put up a return request where he got his money back, but the seller never bothered to take the laptop back away
Usually should be easily available through similar refurbish laptop dealers, but Thinkpad parts will also bit on the expensive side compared to HP/Dell counterparts.
No it’s not easily available… Since the banned of ali express and many chinese sites.. these parts are very costly and and not worth due to age of laptop
I guess if you’re Delhi these issues won’t be there. But then being sure about genuine parts and a genuine seller might require some tact in places like Nehru Place and Wazirpur or even Gaffar market for that matter.
In my case, the seller I bought the laptop from, also assured any future repairs if needed and parts availability from him. Even for the laptop, initially I was given 3 months warranty and turned out to be fine.
It was a Thinkpad Yoga X1 3rd gen, it has been 4+ years actually. Lately feels slowish because of the limited ram and no upgrade options & older gen cpu, and I am not too mindful with my chrome tabs always. Although at the time worked well and did not face issues. Lately has started showing issues with couple of keys getting stuck, but didn’t bother with any repairs. Other than that, maybe processor gets bit hot sometimes probably because of the dust build up.
