For me speed and data both reduced.

I had 320kbps real UL wired BB until last year and now I have sucky GPRS 2GB FUP mobile net …:frowning:

Well these private companies have surely formed a cartel and are also bribing government companies like BSNL/MTNL for sure too. I think things might just keep getting worse.

However that idea might sound to others, I agree with your view.. :frowning: this is the case with all private players, in all spheres and not just telecom…

bad for us consumers but good money for the companies…

i am sure like piracy if something like that happens in telecom we may start to get better vfm services but i dont think people will get involved in it.

in our state mizoram not just our speed has been reduced our ip has been reset randomly and we cant even play online games properly

I had 4Mbps night 12-8 unlimited and 5GB per month day time usage for past 2 years, and used to download about 300~400GB per month. Now im stuck with the 725 Kbps UL connection with which i can do only less than half of that a month.:frowning:

not only that but cheating with customers!!! :expressionless:

according to them they by-mistake cut my speed into half for night time for more than a week. after taking to there head for 2 days they changed it back!!! :X

the huge losses these telecom cos incur from telecom business( after all we have the cheapest mobile calls) is the one of the most primary reason behind absurd pricing of bb in india.. they manage to reduce the loss and gain profits from bb side..

^exactly, people today have more than one active mobile connection. So even if the calling rates may be low, the volume of calls made covers up that angle.
Also one of the primary reasons of cheap call rates is that most of the old operators have got their spectrum for free(additional spectrum). And the new entrant made huge profits by selling their spectrum by means of mergers @4 to 5 times the spectrum purchase rates.(this being the reason which highlighted the 2g scam.)

overall airtel and other private operators and their fup is main reason for all this and as far as airtel is concern what their annual report says they just have 1 % growth in broadband and landline yoy basis so not much they have in this

Many countries developing new infrastructure and at the same time india is doing shit. We should start trying to provide 1gbps connection for all houses as if plan is proposed now it won’t be implemented till 2015 and by then I reckon that speed would be average for the world.

i have no dobut that in few yrs we met get 1gbps but i am sure and confident that fup for 1gbps will be 15gb after that 256kbps

India could really become the next IT innovation hub(not just outsourcing hub) but basic infrastructural flaws like lack of high speed broadband,24hour power are problems that govt needs to solve at macro level. Untill then, what a pity of state of affairs!

It’s with the advent of FUP, that the ISPs have now handicapped broadband in India. Airtel being the one to march forward with this torch. A lot of my friends, including myself, have booted them out. It’s a shame our Telecom regulations authority feels 256Kbps is still the base for a “broadband” Internet connection. This is the biggest piece of horse dump decision taken by them. With such a narrow definition of broadband in this country, Airtel and other private operators can easily get away with applying FUP and limiting our connections to 256Kbps, which satisfies the “minimum” criteria. No wonder speed is reducing in India. With every ISP offering (read: advertising) 8Mbps+ speeds and then applying a fair usage to not utilize the speed in a proper manner, I’m confused what are we actually paying for? 8Mbps or 256Kbps? :confused:
