Hi guys,

I have been planning to buy a rig for myself.

Following is the rig that am Planning to buy :-

Motherboard:-

EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

Price :- Rs 13,750 from newegg via kmd.

GPU :-

XFX GeForce 9800 GT - 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, (2) Dual Link DVI, HDTV, VGA Support.

Price :- Rs 8,650 from Tigerdirect via kmd.

Proccy :-

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Price:- Rs. 10,100

Havent Decided about Ram, HDD, PSU and Monitor. Need a LOT of advice on those.

Now the questions that I have in mind are:-

Config wud provide me good performance? I dont want to go for best stuff and get low performance outta it, instead I want system to give good performance.

So now I need to know pros and cons of this rig.

Please advice.

if ur spending 8.6k you’d be wayy better of getting a 4850 locally. easily bests the 9800GT.

If for some reason you are stuck on getting a 9800GT despite the obvious lower performance, i’d just like to tell you that this card was locally available for 7.5k from the dealers here on TE.

and any reason for getting the 780i SLI?

a friend of mine told me to go for this board. + its a 3way SLI.

If you think there some other board for cheaper price then lemme knw xD

despite the fact that ATI currently makes WAYY better cards than nvidia?

i am quite sure that 4850 + 4850 CF >= 9800gt + 9800gt + 9800gt 3-Way-SLI

n the former one is of Lower Cost! : On TE, Palit = 9050

hence, 18100(CF)<25500(3Way-Sli) n better/equal performance

Reason: HD48xx CF >>>>>> Nvidia SLi

get 2 x asus 9800GT ultimate for SLI if u want its faster than 9800gtx (725 core and cost around 9.5k , will be almost same as 4850 CF and cheaper +much better cooling , i have one card and it runs max 60 C load and 40 idle . and if u want CF then wait for 4850x2 , it willl be better than 2 x 4850 CF . u can also consider 9800GX2 if ur psu can handle it , it will be around 16k from kmd , get atleast TX650 / HX620 for the rig . .

btw pm me if u want 750i SLI FTW mobo :face_with_tongue: .

hmm so u guys suggest me to go for 9800 gt or 4850.

4850 is 40% faster than 8800GT/9800GT. Even 4830 is 10% faster than 8800GT, check Anandtech review. + better IQ + AA performance. :slight_smile:
