Popular search engine Torrentz.eu shuts down – and nobody knows why

After more than 13 years of service, the popular site announced its farewell just a few hours ago. While the homepage is still active, Torrentz has completely disabled its search functionality and has similarly removed all torrent links.

Meh, one goes down and ten others will come up, I haven’t used a public tracker since demonoid went down anyways.
TL has open signups atm, it’s still the best 0day/general tracker imo once you get past the initial struggle to get past wait times.
I got my account in '07, spent a grand on a shared OVH box for a month, buffered up my account by 6TB and have been hitting and running for the last 9 years.
They are launching v4.0 very soon and going by the beta it’s gonna be even better than it is now.

Which is what I meant by 0day, they mainly index scene releases but have some p2p releases as well. Can’t help it if you’re looking for Anil Kapoor movies or desi mallu p0rn.

Private trackers are just nuisance value in India. We don’t have the b/w to truly utilize the speed potential of private sites, neither to keep them properly seeded via regular means. Worst of both worlds.

I like Private Trackers who have a system of bonus points. These points get awarded for seeding irrespective of whether someone is downloading from you or not. You can then exchange these points for uploads and that way one can easily survive on such trackers.
I was lucky to get into Speed.cd when they were new and have been getting along just fine for the last 8-9 years without ever using a Seedbox just because of those bonus points.

Not really. Most Indians just love to leech. I had a > 1.5 ratio on a private tracker even when i had 512Kbps UL plan. No where it is written that we have to keep downloading to get full value for our money. We can use that bandwidth to upload too at full speeds. Even now I upload to 1.2 ratio on public trackers. Not sharing anything = killing off the torrent soon. Otoh, you can always find > 20 seeds on private trackers because they want to maintain their ratios.
