Router with USB port to use with printer

I want to buy a router with USB port that can be connected (wireless preferred but will manage if it can be connected wired only) to my existing Airtel router to use with my HP M1136 MFP. I need to keep the printer at a distance from PC… USB cable connection is not possible.

I don’t need any expensive router. This is just a trial for few days, so I would like pay minimum possible.

Please DM your offers.

**Please feel free to guide/**suggest other options also in this thread.

I did try with asus basic router that had usb port, also with raspberry pi etc., printing was hit & go.. finally went ahead and got a hp 126NW ( printer with lan and wifi).
You can try with a basic rpi with 1gb ram and see results for your self. I can lend you the pi I have to try

Thank you so much for your offer of lending your RPi to try it.

I tried it once with Rpi 3 but could not make it working. @@jinx helped me and made it working.

But somehow using it was not hassle free. I don’t remember exact issues but paper size or scanner issues were there. I still [have a RPi 4](’

) lying in cupboard but don’t want to use it.

I thought connecting through a router’s USB port would be as good as using it directly with PC. Is it not so?

I don’t mind buying a new laser MFP but have a fully 10/10 working M1136. So a little confused.

I tried with asus n13 router, attached printer to the usb port, again it was hit and go, print would take its own time, sometimes won’t print.
I haven’t tried with higher end routers.

Got a belkin n150 lying around if you’re interested.

Are you sure [Belkin N150](’

) has a USB port to connect the printer?

If yes, will it work with printer? Sorry I have NEVER used Belkin routers, so don’t know much about them.

Oh

Oh you’re right, it does not have a USB port.

I also have a D-link DSL-2877U but have only connected a scanner to it using ethernet and it works just fine.

Maybe around 10 years ago, I tried same with TP Link ADSL router , to connect to HP 1136. Sometimes it printed sometimes didn’t and when it prints, it would take much longer time to print. I wasn’t able to use scanner at all through the router.

I think I should drop the idea of buying a router and trying it.

I had this. Bought in 2014 and sold in 2020.

How much you are selling it for?

Sent you dm.

Decided not to spend money on this because everyone says it is not 100% sure it will work flawlessly.

Will either buy a wifi/ethernet printer later or try some other placement for my existing printer.

Mods, please close this thread.

Is it a good printer to replace my HP MFP M1136?

HP LaserJet Tank MFP 2606dn Printer Multi-function Monochrome Laser Printer (Toner Cartridge)

Getting it for 13.5k (details in Flipkart deal thread).

Yes it is. Highly recommended
Refills are costly (No more 88a cartridges you get at 350/- ) but overall good specs and should run for a long term.

How did you manage to connect the printer with Airtel Router with USB.?. When I connected the printer with the router through USB it did not assign any IP address to access the same on the computer. Could you please help

How is the duplex printing on the HP LaserJet Tank MFP 2606dn. For that price it was a steal. Congrats. How was refilling. I doubt drum change will be similar to old HP Printers.
On the look out for similar option with only printing. Need LAN…wifi is a bonus.
