22000km for a cruise missile is crazy. It can hit anywhere on Earth from anywhere.
the enemy will not know where it came from.
Does India need such missile in future? I think maybe yes with Americans becoming such a bully and Saudi’s coming into pack with pakistan and Turkey acting all strong and mighty …
We will need to increase our range of all our missiles now.
Lot of unknows here. When the target is hit, what happens to the unspent fuel in a “nuclear powered missile”? If it is dispersed into the env and has the same effect as conventional nuclear weapons, does it mean countries will consider it a nuclear attack ?
If they do, it means the missile can only be used once/couple of times before we reach the nuclear threshold. And I can clearly see America proclaiming that its use will be considered a nuclear attack and respond with “full retaliation” while they happily develop the same tech. Let’s also see how the EU reacts. America openly said it will declare war for far less reasons like trying to convict its military officials for human right violations a.k.a. Hague invasion act.
If this tech makes that specific or any other bully think twice about India, I don’t see why we shouldn’t have it. If we do manage to build it, due to the current geo-political climate and for forseeable future, it will be used as one more point to needle India.
I feel the inevitable is so close. NATO should take a step back and deal with Russia in a much more mature way. The west is proving it that they can’t handle anything right.
Nope. They tested successfully but then canceled further development due to environmental concerns etc. Since they’ve already tested, it implies a restart is possible any time once the risk-benefit ratio is re-assessed.
They dont even want to continue the Nuclear Stock Pile START programme with Russia anymore . It is collapsing next year I think and usa has indicated it will not renew as far as I read.
Beside that they are now taking weapons into Space. So Russia and China are following.
USA is leading the Arms race to an extent that its setting back Humanities real progress by almost a half century or even more.,
This is generally true for other tech but I’m not sure about this for space.
If a failed launch results in dispersal of radio active elements into our lower atmosphere, thats not good for anyone. And space launches are guaranteed to fail at some point due to their frequency and experimental nature. Let them perfect it using missiles first
With atmosphere involved, our failures impact our neighbours. We don’t want to worry about a potential mistake by some scientist in Iran, pakistan or Bangladesh. They have enough to trouble us as it is without that.
