Both these drives seem ideal for backup purposes, which ones do you guys vote for and support, please take into consideration previous experiences with the company Seagate and Western Digital, RMA, build Quality, known issues etc, and not only specs fro other review sites.. I believe this should help a lot of us in helping decide, both are available at the same price point.

If the RMA part doesn’t scare you, then both should be good. Me gonna get 2 x 2 TB drives pretty soon. Am tilted towards Seagate. Let’s see what happens.
The Seagate/WD one you are talking about is an old model. The latest one is ST2000DL003…its better than the latest WD model WD20EARS.

take any one … just check whether the brand has a sc in ur city… in kol seagate has one but wd no sc.. so i always opt for seagate
seagate is better, currently it’s price is abt 4.4k for the 6gbps 64mb cache 5900rpm version called the" seagate barracuda green 2tb " and also the abv mentioned names … just get it, eyes closed

in benchmarks, even though it’s supposed to be Lp low power >> low performance part, it performs almost at par with desktop 7200rpm drives and beats WD anywhere hands down…

Anyway my vote is for Seagate ST2000DL003 (New Model) with FW CC32 only…
using 3*seagate 2TB 5900 rpm drives, i dunno more but copying to these drives give speed more then 30mbps, which is kinda faster then WD EADS1TB which i had previously.

Anyone can tell the current prices of these (or similar green 2TB) HDDs ?
Seagate for internal drives. WD for external Drives
6.5k ~ 7K here in mumbai. Try to get stuff from the US. My friend (whose friend is coming here next month) has gotten himself a 2TB internal ~4.5k, part of cyber monday deals.
Please direct me to some site where i might avail those offers ,i really have no idea.
Or did you mean i have to get them ( you know , physically ) from Stores in US through some friend ?
Offers have expired long back, buddy. Also you need to get it physically from the store.
