so i bought this motherboard about 3 months back and i never used it till date, now when I am ready to build with this board I noticed the pci express 16x slot is missing its lock. I have never used this slot even once and i thought may be somehow i damaged it but then i can here on this thread and saw that there is no lock on the 16x slot when the seller posted this motherboard for sale. @@aftreck basically sent me a motherboard with no lock on the pci 16x slot.
This might affect resale value/warranty, so hopefully you can work something out.
But, i also had it popped out in my B550m ds3h while removing heavy gpu, just forgot about the lock for a minute.
I can still use the port 3+ years after incident, tested with 3080 and later with amd gpu which is still in use.
3080 was used with gpu support, 5600xt without one as its light and its working fine today.
The price i paid for this motherboard wont be justified if i don’t get warranty, and for sure i will not get warranty as that plastic lock is missing. Waiting for the seller to respond and then will see what we can do in such a situation.
So i got in touch with the seller on whatsapp and he has denied of everything. In fact he told me that I broke it. But that plastic lock is missing since the seller posted the tread. Yes i agree i could not realize it when i got the motherboard delivered.
All i am asking him now is to send me that lock but he is denning to do that too now. Seems like i got partially scammed.
I mentioned each and everything to him but he has completely denied to fulfill anything. It is absolutely clear that he sent me a motherboard with no pci slot lock or damaged pci slot lock, it is clear from the picture that he himself posted. I also told him to come here on the forums and do rest of the talking but he told me he does not cares about posting anything here. Installing any gpu without that pci-e lock seems a little unsafe to me. He is a new member and he does care about anything. So basically I have a damaged motherboard with no warranty.
Tag and report to a Mod. It clearly shows up as missing in the pic posted by the seller. The seller should have explicitly mentioned it though. Him disclaiming it now makes no sense unless this was his intention all along. You can add the seller feedback accordingly.
) a retention clip
3. Use your GPU without one but reinforced with a clamp or stand. It should work fine.
4. Contact Gigabyte for a replacement clip, or
5. Order few of these and carefully reuse the clip -
first up thank you very much for taking out time and helping me in this situation. Will see what i can do.
As far as feedback to the seller is concerned, if i post negative feedback he will post negative feedback to and that will affect my profile so i am not sure whether i should leave a negative feedback or not.
While I will leave it up to you, any feedback will be linked to this thread and so when it’s neutral or -ve, any future prospective buyers will read this thread to find out what actually transpired.
Don’t let it slide in fear of getting a fake negative feedback. The mods are more than understanding and will surely prune such retaliatory feedbacks.
On the other hand, I suggest you reach out to the mods will all the facts, this @@aftreck guy already said he is indifferent to ever posting back here, the mods might add him to the scammers list. This is a clean cut case of scummy behavior, and it shouldn’t be left unattended. @@puns
Selling a “5/5” motherboard with missing PCIe lock
(And also claiming you broke it in chat afterwards which his own pics prove wrong)
VS
Buying a motherboard with a missing PCIe lock
(Which you also missed in the pics tbh)
As others have already said, the PCIe lock is missing/broken even in the seller’s own pic. While buyer should’ve done his due diligence the seller is at fault for not even acknowledging the case. Not sure if this can be called a “scam” but seller deserves to be banned for this even if he doesn’t care. He seems the least bothered as evident from his total lack of activity now. He’s probably stalking this thread as we type and might create a new account who knows. Anyways just my opinion.
