A Silverstone SG14 ITX case, purchased sometime in late 2019. This was intended to be for a second NAS build, but then COVID came around and I put a pause on this idea.
I loved this case for a particular reason- it was very moddable and had multiple layout options. It was also the only option in india at the time that allowed for a huge CPU air cooler with full size PSU and GPU.
I spent ages designing several non-destructive mods for various use cases (4+ 3.5” HDDs, multiple 140cm fan rails, attaching a Cooler Master NR200 official psu bracket). I think I may have spent at least 5-6k on CNC / laser cutting + powder coating attachments! It was a passion project.
I had bought the case from ITdepot, and opened the box a few weeks later, and by then the return window had closed. Turned out, one side panel was missing.
I reached out to Silverstone service and they sent 2 replacement panels for the case (from Taiwan it was I think). One with the air holes, and another flat. How nice of them! (it did take a lot of back of forth)
The extent of the damage
But nice for not too long. I traveled for work and packed the case up. A year passed by the time I planned to resume the build again. And when I opened it, the replacement panels they sent and the attached dust filter that came with it had rusted and bubbled up. And wherever the replacement dust filter had come into contact with, had rusted up as well (the backside of the motherboard tray). I’m not sure if they used different materials for different regions, but it was a huge bummer. You can see them in the photos, and I can cover this in more detail over a video call. No issues stemming from the original parts, only the replacements.
I didn’t continue with the build after this. Back to storage it went for another year. The damage didn’t spread after I kept the replacement panels separate.
What you can do to make it new again
Someone with a DIY mind can definitely make use of this case- you can fix the original dented panel, but I was unsure of my skills in straightening it so I’m leaving it as is. The second panel would have to be sanded down and repainting (in case you want to use it). Or you can use the case with one side open.
As for behind the motherboard tray, you need to do is sand the motherboard plate and paint it (or cut it off). You can also use my mod, and relocate the PSU in that way. I can guide you through it (there’s not much to it, pretty straightforward). You can fix my mod in the front or back of the case.
Please check the notes in the images.
The rest of the case is intact, and so are all the accessories that it came with. I have to look for the screw set it came with. I think its in another location, so that will have to be shipped separately (if I indeed find it)
Also, sorry about the unclean pictures. I’ll clean the case once a deal is made.
Ending notes
I purchased this in 2019 for Rs 8900 for context (not counting the time and money spent on mods) We can decide a value over PM.
Shipping cost is on the buyer. The original box is pretty big with spacey protective and packing material, so it’ll be on the heavier side.
