SSD for Gigabyte H410M H : no NVMe?

Gigabyte H410M H :

1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280 SATA and PCIe x2 SSD support)

Looks like no NVMe.

Suggest a 1 TB SSD.

Would a m.2 SATA be better than 2.5 inch SATA?

Edit : In the specs PCIe x2 means NVMe?

Yes it supports NVMe but the peak speed will be reduced as it supports only 2 lanes instead of the usual 4. Not a big deal though. Get any affordable Gen3 NVMe SSD. Newer ones would also work. You can reuse them for another PC in the future even if they won’t run to their full potential in this PC.

SATA is still….SATA.

Just a different form factor.

x2 M.2 NVMe > M.2 SATA > 2.5in SATA

M.2 SATA may offer a slight advantage over traditional SATA.

But , x2 NVMe will still be a lot faster in terms of bandwidth and much lower latency

M.2 SATA SSD is dead investment as is obsolete but as everyone has said 2.5 SATA has far more usability and SATA is SATA whether 2.5 or M.2

I Was in same boat , laptop takes M.2 SATA or 2.5 SATA .

M.2 is priced 3k and SATA 4k in TE used market . Picked up 1TB SATA 870 EVO which is DRAM also . As such the old M.2 SATA laptop will be replaced in near future

WD Blue SN5000 NVMe 1TB ordered by owner. Keeping fingers crossed.
