Waiting for your valuable suggestion…

Get a LG or Philips DVD cum DivX player !

Stay clear from MB and stick to the well known brands.

Go for pioneer man. Its the best . Will support most of the latest formats…

Philips DVP3256

Comes with USB port and supports lot of formats.

Does this philips player has Mpeg4 support? and would DivX compatible mean that it would play XviD too? alteast if I changes the XviD fourcc to DivX?

Any actual owners of Moserbaer dvd player if they can comment on the product.. i would be great! thanks

:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I had once changed the fourcc code and tried playing a XviD file (after changing it to DivX) but that did not work with my DVD Player. Also whatever player you buy dont expect that you can connect your external HDD and play media off it. USB Pen drives will work fine though.

Not sure but a FAT formatted USB Powered HDD should work. Anyone tried that ?

I am not sure whether only budget constraints are making you go for Moser Baer, buddy. There are several specialized manufacturers which produce very good budget players, like Philips, Samsung, and on the little higher side, Pioneer.

I have the Pioneer 610, which is awesome for both DVD and DivX/XviD.

FAT formated HDD works on my Philips DVP 5965k. The only problem is it just recogonizes one partition. I have 4 partitions on it 2 FAT32 and 2 NTFS partitions.

So I just dump everything on the partition that gets detected. I even played movies from my MMC card using a card reader. The movie was converted using Lonely Cat Games Smart Movie Converter for my N-Gage QD.

Get a Philips Divx DVD PLayer

Philips DVD + DivX player ftw :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

i have a lg dv388 and it rocks, has a usb port, has hdmi port and upscales to full hd resolution, cost will be under 3k, do check out the same

How about Godrej.. one of my friend says it can play any kinda cd… scratched, local make… any kind..

does Philips sport such a nifty little feature? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: like wise how about ondia?

check the specification of philips dvp3256 player

I ain’t going to play a scratched cd to check it out. Also why does your friend buy scratched pirated dvds when Moserbaer movie dvds simply cost 45 Rs.

I never said Pirated DVDs.. :face_with_tongue: it might be any “Original” legit disc that might hv been scratched in due course of use.. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Sorry mate I just kinda assumed pirated dvds.

Anyways don’t go for Sony. A friend of mine owns a DAV-DZ370, it can’t play movies from usb drives but only music files and pictures. Also I have a movie that has got 14 subtitles and it works for my dvd player but not his. Finally My player supports Divx and Xvid files of resolution 720x576 max, his dvd player supports 720 but can’t play files of width 720.

So don’t go for Sony.

MP4 is a generic format, so its a yes !
Nope, DivX and Xvid are two separate formats.
A DivX player only plays standard divx files.

Go to Planet M, they have some branded 1500 rs players..It was a good one, dont remember it though..

Yes you are absolutely correct!

What i wanted to ask was… i hv a few documentaries that where encoded in the following format
Video

Audio

These also get categorized as MP4 video types. So will any DVD player be able to play such MP4 files?

A DivX player plays generic divx files and ones encoded in standard MP4 format.

I suggest you write those documentaries onto a DVD and take it with you to the store to check with the players of your choice.*
