Hello Folks,

My VU 55" 4K UHD LED TV died last month (on Christmas Eve!) sadly after 8 years of solid service . Was watching a show on it and suddenly a black curtain like image ever so slowly veiled the screen and then it was gone, just like that! Now all I get is purple and green bars across the screen when I turn it on. Guess the panel is toast and I don’t want to replace it because it simple isn’t worth it. What a heart breaker!

So, now I need a new 55" 4K UHD TV. Usage is primarily for: Connecting to my Laptop via HDMI and watching movies and shows and also LIVE streaming Cricket and Tennis. Oh and for occasional cable TV via Hathway HD set-top box.

My budget is around 35k.

Kindly suggest what I can go for. With the Amazon Great Republic Day Sale coming up I plan on buying it so links from Amazon would be very much appreciated.

Did you try to repair it ? or Did you try to google what could be the issues ?
Most the times its minor issues , that can be fixed , provided you identify the correct issue .

Most the time , it will be small diode or Capacitor that needs to be changed .

For mine i changed the motherboard with some other brand which costed 1k and then backlight was also repaired which costed around 3k…it does took some time to find the repair person but he took the TV and returned it in 5 days and it is working properly as of now.
Been almost more than a month

If you are okay with Tizen OS TV, then look at the above one. Good reliability than those newcomer brands. With card cashback it will cost you around 38K-42K, depending upon your card.

This LG one is another good option. Now I have to decide between the Hisense E6N and this LG 55UR7500PSC.

@@Black_Hawk I bought a Hisense 43" 43A6K in 2023 Great Indian Sale . Running fine. Being used for continuous YouTube cartoons only !
I just saw that you can now buy a 55" QLED TV for under 40K. Hisense 55E68N is one such mode. There are more from Acer/TCL and some more under 40K.
All at Amazon republic sale .

The panels on TCL and other online brands almost look similar to each other and they don’t mostly adhere to the specs seen on the listing. These are all mostly made up in a single factory or the panel from a single factory. Afaik, some local manufacturers have paid for the rights to use brand names like TCL, Vu, Motorola, BPL and just sticking the brand names on to the very cheaply made TV’s. Better stick with LG/Samsung/ Sony.

Samsung uses dixon whereas hisense and TCL use their own companies/subsidiary and it changes on a case by case basis

Agree on brands like Motorola, BPL etc. but not local manufacturers; companies like Flipkart, Reliance have bought their naming rights and are manufacturing via local partners.

VU’s regional manager told me Foxconn is building panels for them.

Yes, infact I have seen same model of Hisense being manufactured by Dixon on Amazon and Hisense on FK.

i got hisense e7k pro last year for 45k from amazon and got no complaints from it. value for money
