Hi Friends my dads old CRT is have few speaker and picture tube problems. So planning to get a new 21" CRT tv. Can u suggest me pretty decent models at the price of 7-8K… Can extend the budget a bit… Which company to prefer LG, Sony or Samsung??? Which one of these is VFM…
Check out the 21" “Ultra Slim” models from Philips, Samsung & LG !
And opt for a demo at the nearest showroom and decide which you like the best, in terms of styling & performance.
Are philips tvs good???
go for samsung or LG..they both have good A.S.S…also LG has slimagic series in their flat Tv’s…![]()
Which is a better choice performance wise??? Saw in the website that samsung too has slim tvs… Plus it has DNIe… is LG better than the samsung…
Yeah.They are quite good !
That’s exactly why I asked to you visit a multi-brand showroom for a demo.
Look at Sharp as same suggested to me by a Local TV technician.
He even said Do not expect too much from any BRAND as all are starts using Cheap Chinese Parts hence NO GUARANTEE for TV after completion of OFFICIAL WARRANTY PERIOD i.e. 1 years.
He also add that TV bought prior to 10 yrs was STILL WORKINGS like CHARM but latest models from ANY brand does not guaranteed (even mouth guarantee) long working, from all models you can buy SHARP as they still insist on High Quality Chinese Components.
I too look for Replacement of My ONIDA TV which fail working perfectly after 4 yrs of purchasing.
HTH
That’s quite true.
Availability may be a problem though.
Thanks for the information ![]()
they both are good in terms of performance…samsung has DNIE while LG has XDP…chk out both…
Sony Wega. Nothing beats Sony’s clarity & contrast. I can’t recollect my 21 inch model number, but I’ll let you know if you need it. Trust me it’s fantastic in terms of picture quality.
My first search was for the sony crts but the sony india website shows crt link as archived CRTs… They have stopped the production of the CRTs
Too bad…
My suggestion is not to go with slim tv. More or less all have geometry issues. Check in your local store with some news channel. High contrast doesnot mean better quality. I have seen esp on lg and sammy when you have contrast colors displayed simultaneously bright objects gets very bright and dark gets very dark. The ability to show blackest black and whitest white in smooth gradient is what i prefer. It may look good initially and catchy but over the time you feel very artificial and cartoonish. I prefer Panny anytime. If price is not an issue go for sony else Panasonic. Also remember dont buy showroom piece even if displayed for 1 day. The reason is they crank up the contrast upto 90% which is not good for the picture tube. It loses 50% life of picture tube with high contrast. Burn-in is necessary for new t.v. Keep contrast as low as 20% for first 100%. Never cross over 50% contrast setting for one year. You will Never see picture tube going bad for atleast 5 years. Our panny tv is more than 3.5 years and the current contrast setting is 28%. Each year the fluorescent coating reaches half life so its necessary to increase the contrast value by 2 or 3 % to compensate the loss of clarity.
If you have any Croma showrooms then why not check if they still have some left in stock?
By stretching the budget a little over 8K you can get a 29" CRT. Since CRT’s are on their way out, they are available at surprisingly low prices.
I have a JVC 29". Great Picture and Sound Quality.
I perfectly agree with what vijaycool has mentioned about the Slim TVs. Almost all slimline TVs have geometry issues as well as colour patching issues.
