Suspending all the active contracts from Indian clients

I am suspending all the active contracts from Indian clients. I will never work for an Indian.

Indian Businesses pays cheap and demands International level of quick and fast work.
I am a single person working hard and helping in affordable price. Working on cheap is an option that i want to opt out from now.

It is pretty frustrating to deal with Indians. My International clients pays me well, i also enjoy working with them even for free, they appreciate my work. Indians, forget things in next minute.

Lol I have a few friends too who stopped serving Indian clients for the same reason, they don’t follow/understand the SOW.
Some of them will also make you chase them for your pending dues.

I don’t even reply to Indian jobs they will offer 1/4 salary and expect 4x work. I just don’t have time and energy to deal with them.

Same here, When I started working with another agency in YouTube Production, they asked me to get more Indian creators for editing, thumbnail and brand deals. In my first month I could not get even 1 YT creator onboard, These creators have 500K - 1M Subscriber and are paying peanuts to video editors and thumbnail designer. The only place where you can make money is brand deals.

There was a Minecraft creator whose video was getting delayed because of one of our editors and I ask the guy how much was he paying for the editing so I can give him a discount for the delay and he replied 2500 INR, 2500 INR for a 20 minute gaming video with many FX and SFX. I was like wtf! then I asked the editor how much was he getting paid, he said 2000 INR and that video took 1 week, So 3 people were busting their ass, and the company only made 500rs from it?

I knew at that moment these guys don’t know how the business side works. it’s been 2 months since I quit, and now I have some good editors in my contact and I charge Foreign creators a minimum of $20-$30 Per minute. and I don’t have a single Indian client. I did got a gaming creators no. from my city with 1M+ subscribers but I never called him, recalling how less they pay.

From the opposite point of view, my company WAS the Indian client and honestly the way we treated the team we contracted our work to, I dont blame you at all.

You know whats fucked up though, we contracted out the same work to an international company at a larger price (who turned in the same quality of work) and we were way nicer to them.

Indians treat other Indians like shit.

I never get why people behave that way, maybe they get superiority complex, since they are the one paying. I have worked with both Indian and foreign freelancers and I treated both the same. And I always got my work done the way I wanted with minimal or no delays.

I also do generally not like to take Indian Clients on treks usually. ( not everyone ofcourse but few have left a bad taste ) but its just few who I know have to be given much clear instructions. They can act very childish too.
I then had to make lot of rules and conditions after that.

Ofcourse as someone in service industry. You want to do your best but they dont expect best they expect to own you.

Compare this to foreign clients. So much understanding they can show. Not make a fuss over little things etc and they know the meaning of hiring a person for his service and not outside of his service as mentioned.

I once told my Indian client to bring Water bottle and thermas for hot water.
They were couple.
Both couple only bought one bottle and one thermas ( and that too cheap and broken inside not keeping the hot water inside).

Now tell me…You come for trek . You have been told the difficulty level. You have been informed about keeping yourself hydrated and drinking good amount of water.

You dont have basic sense that how can 2 people be able to do multi-day treks with just one bottle and they try to but blame on me…you should have been more specific.

arey bhai…I also said not to bring anything unnecessary as every gram matters in treks but you bought make-up kit…you bought fancy leather jackets to look cool and take good photos but the very basic survival things you have no sense of its importance.

Thank fully those were my early days in this profession and I have learned a lot but today back in my mind …I know I have to be very clear with my Indian clients compared to foreign clients. ( ofcourse I am clear with both of them now but its just something I have noticed is Indian people are too easy to put blame on others and have very little sense of self responsbility)

I’ve noticed a difference between Indian creators and foreign ones and I only accept foreign clients now. I’m working as a video editor for a US client and I’ll never be editing for any Indian creator, with their absymal pay and outrageous demands.

Indians needs to learn to not under sell themselves, If you have the skills, research the market and ask to be paid what you think best suits your skills.

also @Gon_Freecs if you have space in your schedule, drop me a DM with your portfolio maybe I can connect you to some foreign creators.

Oh man. I remember a guy who used to call me ANY time like I was his personal B*tch. Didn’t matter if it was 2 am at night. I swore to never deal with Indian clients after that.

Hey appreciate your help! I can’t seem to DM you though, probably because I’m new to the platform and don’t have the required permissions to do so.

If you feel like it’d be worth it you can send me an email over at [redacted] send my portfolio over to you. Cheers!

This happened with me too. Random calls at 12PM, and complain the next morning that I never pick up calls. I just ignored. Anyway I am yet to receive the payment from him and it’s been more than a year. Asked for it 4 times already, no reply.
