Hi Guys,

Good time to buy a WiFi Dongle for your Tata Sky+ HD at just Rs.100/-. :slight_smile:

I requested Tata Sky in the evening of 3rd June to connect my Tata Sky+ HD with my router for VoD etc. by sending SMS “CONNECT” TO 56633.

Yesterday, I got a call from Tata Sky (Hyderabad) that connection with Ethernet cable is free and they have just launched a WiFi dongle which costs Rs.1200/- but they are giving it for Rs.300/- as introductory offer. Good offer in my opinion. I immediately said yes. Then I got 2-3 calls from Tata-Sky (Gurgaon) that it has been launched but they don’t have stock. The stock is expected in 2-3 days and they will call me after that.

Today I got a call in morning at 9:00 AM that they got it and asked for suitable time to come and install.

The guy came and install it, simple plug and play, no IP setting, no other setting. Literally 10 seconds job. He spent another 5 minutes in giving me demo by downloading sample video and playing it.

In the meantime, I saw Rs.100/- printed on the packing. I asked him how much, he asked me how much I was told. I told him that I was told Rs.300/- but Rs.100/- is printed on the packing. He said that it is the first USB dongle he is installing so doesn’t know about the price. He called up his senior and asked. His senior called back in 5 minutes (by the time demo finished) that it is indeed for Rs.100/- only. He took Rs.100/- cash and gave me receipt.

Amazing price for ultimate convenience of WiFi and 802.11a/b/g/n 300 Mbps dongle. All in all I am happy customer. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Nice. I connected my HD+ box through a spare LAN cable to my router.
VoD does not have anything good on it though. The offerings look bleak. Also download speed is pita on the box. :frowning:

By connecting to your home network, one can use Tata-Sky Remote App from Google play store. :slight_smile:

Also, I am quite sure that this dongle can be used on a laptop/PC. I think Rs.100/- well spent at the end of the day.

Why you used your own cable, call Tata Sky they will give you a free cable upto 15 meters. That’s what they told me. :wink:

Hey guys, can anyone with Tata Sky+ HD, buy a Tata Sky wifi dongle for me (if you are not planning to get one for yourself) ?

My PC USB Wifi dongle died and this one is working fine on my PC. So need another for Tata Sky.

Now they have increased the to Rs.300/- but even @300, it is a good offer.

Mate he does not have tata sky, he just needs the dongle.

I’m in the market for a dongle too, Tp link ones cost 600 and Chinese ones cost 300,is this tata sky one branded?

@prateekS, I saw on tatasky site they mentioned the brand as netgear. Also warranty is limited to one month only. After that we need to get rma from rashi peripheral.

It is a Chinese one. See the first post of this thread. But it is giving me good transfer speed on PC.

So, instead of going for a unknown Chinese product, I will buy this because it is tested.

The cheapest net gear one is for 600+ on flipkart.

Chinese ones are available for this much outside, I thought its a netgear one as 6pack said, think I’ll go for a Tp link for 600 with 3 years warranty.

well, if bought this dongle, can we use it with Asus HDP R1 (with R3 firmware & moservices) to connect with my home wifi d-link router ?

Tata Sky engineer just now came and installed it. It is same as mentioned in Post #1 of this thread. Rs.300/- to be deducted from my Tata Sky Balance.

If you want to use your broadband as wifi(wirelessly) considering you have wifi router.
Now your PC detects only ethernet cable, but you can use wifi adapter/dongle to do the same job.
They are plugged into usb port and receive internet wirelessly.
