There are a lot of these floating around and a lot of threads about the same. With the best of my knowledge i am trying to put the best of the parts available in the country with the aproox prices.
I havent included the optical drives as it is your personal decision that weather you want to go in for a DVD writer or a DVD Rom. Personally i dont feel a need for a DVD writer but it depends person to person. But a DVD Optical drive is a must in any of the above configs and DVD’s are the new standards now.
And about the cabby well again i am suggesting none here cause i have not got any first hand experience on a good cabby. Me looking for one too. Hope to find it soon. If you are looking for something cheap llok for the Zebronics lava Good cabby. Something expensive then Antec’s or Cooler Masters. Something which is VFM then VIP sever case.
For the choice of speakers i will recommend none cause i own a cretive and i havent tried any of the Altec lancing’s so no comments there either. But keep in mind one thing for gaming go for surround speakers. A 4.1 is a minimum must but speakers for the low end i would suggest a good 2.1 like the Altec lancing ATP 3.
Also i have included a 19" moniter in the High end config cause no point running a high end card when your moniter cant support good resolutions like 1600x1200 and vice-versa for the Value gaming config.
The (Approx)prices for the following parts are as follows:
Here’s another config, with approx prices which i would to suggest for people who want a descent config but are really short on cash(its pretty similar to mine )
AMD 64 2800 s754 - 5000
ASrock k8combo-z - 4000
Hynix 512MD DDR400 - 2200
XFX 6600GT AGP - 10250
120 GB Seagate Sata - 3600
17" LG Flatron - 7000
Microsoft Basic Optical mouse -500
Logitech KB -350
LiteOn CD-RW - 1300
LG DVD ROM - 1600
Powersafe SMPS 400 Watts - 1700
Mercury Cabinet - Should be around 700-1000, Just make sure to check for fans, 'cause normally they don’t include 'em.
Nice list what I suggest Darky is make a closed thread with the configs a sticky and link it to a diff thread for discussions, will look much neater that ways.
If you see closely i have tried to make the rigs as VFM as possible. The Corsair XMS is a enthusiast chip and thus i dont beleive it qualifies for a gaming rig. I maybe wrong but thats my personal opinion.
About the cordless desktop well i beleive the cordless stuff is not at all meant for gaming. I personally use a MS IE3 and MS Wireless IE 2.0 and the lag with wireless is a lot.
Well i beleive if you want to go a little low on proccy then better get yourself a SLI board rather tan a tad faster GPU. I beleive that would be a better change and future proof.
I would have done that but there were no good choices. I think A8N-E as well as 3200+ are VFM products. You can downgrade the Proccy but then again you should upgrade the mobo to the SLI based for future proofing of the rig.
I am not that creative so you go ahead
I have always beleived TE is an Team effort so i dont mind at all.
And finally it would be good to restrict it to the gaming rig’s but i beleive we can add one more rig that would be the Enthusiast’s rig which can overclock pretty good. And i would like the overclocking Gods like Masky,Deejay,Darky,Bottle,Funky and Monkey’s to decide on the parts and post it here :).
Well…I am using an MX 700 and it has absolutely no LAG. You are using a cordless mouse of the oilder generation. Use one from the newer geneartion. You will know what I mean. Even the MX 1000 Laser mouse is awesome but it is not available in India.
Ask any person who has used an MS series mouse. Even the cordless variety. I tried both mice(MX 500 and 700) before buying. There is no difference except in the weight. The 700 is heavier due the batteries.
I beleive you wont call this an older generation product… i am personally using this and this and trust me the difference is a lot. Not only the weight but the lag too… I am using then both and the former chordless one is definately not meant for gaming…
Also if you will notice and good or pro gamer you will nerver find him using an chordless mouse… But in last it again depends on personal choices… I like it chorded you might like it chordless
MX500 and MX700 are more or less the same in terms of response. The 510 has an improved sensor and the new 518 does 1600dpi instead of 800. Best to get the 518 but well the 510 has dropped to 20 odd dollars and makes it a great deal. The 1000 laser mouse is not meant for gamers.
