Tesla Teases Cyber SUV In A New Video, As Kalshi Betting Contracts Indicate The Optimus Robot Will Launch In 2027

Tesla has been unusually active over the Labor Day holiday, dropping the fourth iteration of its famed ‘Master Plan’ that highlights the potential of the Optimus humanoid robot, and teasing a Cyber SUV in its “Sustainable Abundance” video.

To wit, Tesla has teased mini models of its Cyber SUV vehicle in the above video. While it is as yet unclear if Tesla would indeed end up launching this teased model, it is apparent that the company is at least exploring going in this direction.

Bear in mind that, a couple of months back, Tesla was widely believed to be working on a sub-$30,000 hatchback model. However, the company ended up launching an iterative, 6-seat Model Y L in China.

Tesla has also hyped up the importance of its Optimus humanoid robot in its fourth Master Plan, noting:

“Optimus—our autonomous humanoid robot—is changing not only the perception of labor itself but its availability and capability. Jobs and tasks that are particularly monotonous or dangerous can now be accomplished by other means. In this way, Optimus’s mission is to give people back more time to do what they love.”

Do note that Tesla intends to launch its humanoid robot commercially by early 2026.

However, Kalshi users currently believe Tesla would not be able to launch the Optimus robot before 2027, pegging just a 40 percent probability to this scenario.

This comes as Tesla has abandoned its Dojo super computer efforts to increase reliance on NVIDIA’s chips to train its FSD. The robot is expected to commercially run on the upcoming AI5 chips though.

Meanwhile, as per a related report, Samsung will be supplying OLED panels for the facial display of the Optimus robot. The screen would serve as the primary communication tool of the robot, where it would showcase emotions, expressions, and basic status updates.

That’s an oxymoron. What it really means is it will still harm the environment but you will feel good while using it.

Not exactly, but they have designed the new inference chip AI5 to be also used as a chiplet in a cluster for training purposes. so focusing on a single chip design instead of splitting the work on two separate platforms for training vs inference. so as Elon himself said in a X post that Dojo 2 is cancelled but the new cluster for training using their chips will be called Dojo 3. so not relying entirely on Nvidia.

Nope. There are plenty of ways to improve quality of life without polluting the earth to hell. we are already making tremendous progress.

btw, sadly, human population numbers are falling off a cliff so that already takes care of a big part of it.

That’s always been the case, this is not a technological problem to solve. Taking care to not pollute the earth always has (and always will) cost more and there is no society on earth right now that is set up to choose a sustainable solution over a cheap but dirty solution. We are a tech community so we focus too much on technology and we hope that tech breakthroughs will fix all our problems but this is essentially a sociological/economic problem.

That’s why sustainable abundance is an oxymoron because something that is abundant has to be cheap first.

I’m not going to argue with that. I’ve been in that position for far too long. No argument would have convinced me. Anyway time will prove you wrong or you will be too old, grumpy and much more pessimistic to notice
