The Dev D - Gulaal Connection

First of all for all those who dont know both the movies i.e Dev D and Gulaal were made by director Anuraag Kashyap. Dev D released on February 6, 2009 and Gulaal much after that on March 13, 2009.

While watching Dev D @ Home I noticed some serious references to “Gulaal” even though the movie had’nt been announced then :

The main lead in Gulal was shown sitting in a bar at a different table near “Dev”

Also in one scene where Dev is sitting with Chanda we can hear a track “Ranaji” from Gulaal.

These two Easter eggs are not even listed on Wiki so i thought they mite actually be rare. So wanted to share.

Gulaal was one of the best Hindi movies I’ve ever seen so I guess a thread like this is forgivable

to the OP:Its actually a very nice find . Anurag Kashyap would have been tempted to do that since Gulaal was stuck post production for several years (around 5 years, IIRC) .

Both the movies were awesome. Ransa in Gulaal was a great find, I hope to see more of him in the future.

Very Nice find btw, all great directors make references to their films in their work. Quentin Tarintino and Micheal bay to name a few.

watched both movies in Theater, as both really deserved to be watched in full glory !!

Ransa was really Good…i might have seen tht guy in some other movies also …

Also, kudos to the OP for his keen observation !!!

^Yes, he is Abhimanyu Singh. You saw him in Aks, Lakshya and Jannat although he showed his true talent in Gulaal.

The director brings out the best in the ACTOR.

I rememder really liking the trailers of jannat but that movie seemed to be a superflop so never checked it out.

I noticed the lead from Gulaal in Dev D scene, but yeah.. I missed the song part.

Both movies were brilliants… though personally I would still hold Dev D as AK’s best movie, followed by Black Friday and then Gulaal.

Brother i watched dev d today and i have seen it many time ,for the first time i also noticed this ,that’s why i seached about it and no one else have mentioned this .Great to know other also noticed this.
